I agree that over the last 4 games Bridders hasn't been 100% and certainly not winning as many challenges as we are used to seeing. However I'm not sure that he is fully match fit just yet and maybe just holding a little in reserve. Give it another couple of games and we'll see.

I too have been worried that this is a sign that he might be protecting his injuries in case a big money transfer bid comes in. But surely a transfer is more likely to happen if he shows top form. A Prem club (especially in desperate situation like Sunderland with time running out) won't want a Championship player who is only at around 90% of his best form.

I would be very sorry to see Liam leave as I still think he his vital to us. Ince is a superb prospect but not the finished article yet. I'd like to see Ince and Bridcutt play together for the rest of this season, and ideally a few more thereafter. However if the Albion can get £4m+ then maybe it would be good business.

Is Liam really what Sunderland need and is Sunderland what Liam needs. As far as I can see Sunderland need to score goals becuase they need to win, especially at home, not sure where Liam comes into that. As for Liam is he comfortable travelling that far from home only to be playing in the championship next year. Not a good deal for either party.

And a year ago I laughed. I'm not denying it that Tony should be using this against Gus but he wasn't worth 8m then and he isn't worth 2m now. The truth is somewhere in the middle, both Bloom and Poyet will be aware of that fact.

On Saturday, Bridcutt played like he knew he is leaving. In the first half I saw him clearly bottle three challenges that resulted in Huddersfield taking the ball from 50/50 situations. I accept players like Buckley and Lopez bottle tackles and it doesn't mean they're leaving, but tackling is an integral part of Bridcutt's game so if he's pulling out of physical moments in the game then something is not right. The fact he got Man of the Match was laughable. I reckon he'll be gone within the first week of the transfer window, and it's probably not a bad thing for either him or the club if he is, but we MUST apply a Gus premium to any player he wants to sign. If he is already happy to pay £2m, then let's not even start talking until he gets to £3m.

Completely this. Bruno was MOTM by a mile. Dilemma for LB now though because why would you want to go to Sunderland who look hots on for relegation? (Although doubling salary might help I suppose.) The man has been a new legend for the club and great that we've got something approaching a succession plan with Ince looking capable of filling his boots.

Absolutely, I would not be happy if we were to lose both.

Don't forget, if we let Liam leave with good grace that will probably make Ince more likely to sign up, knowing that the club won't stand in the way of players when their valuation is met. However, we want more than £2m

Aside from:

- Premier League football (we aren't even in a playoff spot yet.) They may not be next season
- Chance to work with a manager who got the best out of him, in a system he is used to He might have been sacked or gone to Chelsea/Spurs next season
- At least double his weekly wage with a signing on fee as well Possibly but he would probably double it here if we went up
- Play in front of 40,000 loud fans every week. Will they get 40,000 every week if they are doomed, or in the Championship
- Less distance to travel for his international meets!!!! But living up there in a remote north eastern wasteland


Look out for interest from Norwich & West Brom being flushed out by this bid. As you say, something over £3m will probably be tempting. I think he's worth plenty more than that but he's a Champinship DMC, not a striker.

I don't know if anyone looks at the transfermarkt.co.uk website but they have transfer history for every club and have valuations of the current squad. Bridcutt's valuation is £3.1 million, which I think is not that far off to be fair.

Everyone has their price, but we don't want to be perceived as a selling club so I hope we've got our own 'hit list' at the ready. It's a shame Barnes missed that header vs. Huddersfield because to be in a play-off place when the transfer window opens would immediately strengthen our hand in any transfer dealings.

I'd take anything over £3.5m. We have a ready made replacement in The Rohan and the funds would allow us to strengthen our options up front, or maybe bring in a younger option in the back four.

Sell on clauses are normally a % of future profit. A well run club probably wouldn't agree to a flat fee. I don't take your point on the other stuff;

- And by showing loyalty Bridcutt might follow Gus to his next high profile venture if there is one.
- They'd get similar crowds to us, with parachute payments, no immedaite problem.
- Sunderland itself is a bit grim but there are lovely places to live not far away. I'd probably plump for the outskirts of Durham, beautiful spot and equidistant between Newcastle & Sunderland.

Take your Brighton blinkers off for a sec and you see the bigger risk for Liam would be to stay.

Some things to consider:

If sunderland do go down, he ll have had 4-5 months playing premier league football which will show other teams that he isn't jst a championship player and maybe another prem tem will sign him in the summer transfer window.
Sunderland have had a few years in the prem and have built a team for that division, so will probably be one of the favourites to go up next season if they do come down, probably a better shot than us if we don't go up.

Will Bridcutt have a trigger amount in his contract? If so Gus may know what it is via the shared agent (assuming they do share an agent)

What was the deal with Gus dropping his threat of action against the club, and how much, if any, effect does it have on the potential deal?

That's the thing though, he is Gus's chosen one. I just think it could backfire on both of them because there would be such high expectations of him if he goes there with all the hype that Gus has given him, that if things don't work out with Bridcutt going there their fans won't be so forgiving with either of them.

Anyway, from the story Gus is saying he wants deals done on the 1st of January so I hope Bloom is just playing String v Cat with him and drags it out as long as he can like Gus did with leaving.

For all we know Bloom may have told Bridcutt that if an offer comes in for a fixed £4m or £5m he has to go whether he wants to or not, but anything less than that Gus will be wasting his time, energy and focus during the transfer window.

I don't mind Bloom building Gus's hopes up and teasing him as it adds to the side show.
