I'm an Albion fan, just gutted that we lost such a quality manager for nothing.
Bet your on your 10th **** off the day in your new Sunderland kit with poyet on the back. You remind me off the nut job from alan partridge with all the pictures up in his house.

It will be very interesting to see how he gets on at Sunderland. There is no doubt in my mind that he is an excellent manager, and with the cash to bring in whoever he wants things could take off for them.

I'll be keeping a close check on their results and the slow realisation from their fans that they've fallen on their feet with his appointment. Just remember though Gus if you try and sign Orlandi, Ulloa and Bridcutt it'll cost £££+

It will be interesting to see how Gus does on Wearside. In theory there are plenty of games left for Gus to turn around Sunderland's fortunes this season but on the other hand its is the Premiership. I hope he will be allowed enough time to change the way they play, even though their results might not improve for a few games, by which time they could be well adrift.

The pressure of being bottom of the Prem is a tad different compared to when he started with us around mid table in League 1 and when our initial expectations were fairly realistic. So it would be refreshing if the Sunderland board are prepared to accept a plan 'B' that Gus may need to see them through a relegation and come back up fully conversant with his playing system.

I wonder if Poyet is going to insist we (saints) give Sunderland a guard of honour when they finish bottom.

Can we all now consign that bloke to the scrap bin and concentrate on oscar

Er, no ! He was the most successful BHA manager in the last 30 years so I won't be doing as you suggest. Add in that we may still find out exactly what happened and that keeps my interest in GP.

To be honest I used to hate it when Gus was linked with some job or other and then failed to deny an interest.

I wonder if he were still with us, and it hadn't gone sour, if we would now be worrying about whether or not he'd be off to Sunderland anyway.

My feeling is we'd about to be looking for a new manager.

Very good.

Wasn't your proudest day that though to be fair.

if it hasnt already been mentioned, there's theory that it was the Sunderland vacancy back in March that lead much of the fall out.

Given that it has taken several days since the original "announcement", is it not possible that Sunderland required Gus to resolve issue with Albion before he signs, on basis they don't want him involved in a negative publicity event, or spending time in court?

Just received another text from a Sunderland fan to his mate, obviously got wrong number, "Ron isnt it great news that we are signing Gustavo Poyet. We are back in the big time watch out Arsenal and Chelsea we will be in Europe at the end of this season despite the bad start." I replied " I am not Ron but am a season ticket holder at Brighton a good appointment for you and he will have you playing football but watch out if a big club are seeking a manager".

Interesting article from John Byrne about Poyet's appointment in today's Argus. Seems he has his doubts that it's a good appointment.
