I haven't been to Brittany for a few years, but used to go regularly when the kids were small. Some really good advice here. Lovely beaches, interesting towns and cities. An absolute joy to cycle. Crepes, cider and seafood, what's not to like?

Well having stayed on various camp/mobile home/gite sites, I would always book direct with the sites. The best pitches definetly don't go to the Brit operators, they are also much more interested in sweating their assets, than in customer satisfaction. Look around any site and the shabby mobile homes, tent pitches furthest away from the amenities belong to the Brit operators.

If you want to take quotes out of my post, then how about this one: '...offers cheap holiday to the EU...' (note the singular, not plural). The majority of the offers might be for the UK, but the fact that BG (a big Brexiteer, no less) is planning to go to a remaining EU country on holiday – something lots of 'them' said they wouldn't do once they'd got their country back – is what stuck out to me.

Pontins by chance? A google of Pontins will reveal a catalogue of horror stories from victims. Dirty clapped out chalets with mold & mildew everywhere, horrible old beds with bloodstained sheets, tissues under the bed, broken windows & so on. A great many of the unwary were of course 9.50 Sun readers. Karma.

Part of life's learning curve is working a season in a holiday camp. Everything from pissed off guests who can't wait to leave, the endless complaints, bad food, bad facilities, bad accommodation, dodgy entertainers who hate each other, staff who hate each other as well as the guests, floaters in the pool, flouncing staff who walk out. It was all good fun. Also, first rule of working in the kitchen of a holiday camp - head chef must be an alcoholic. It's in the job spec.

Any particular rule or regulation you dislike? Square eggs? Straight bananas?

Someone here (I'm in Austria) asked a local for directions today, and he replied in perfect English that if they want directions they need to learn how to speak German. He was quite happy to give directions to her husband because he's Irish.

So you may find you don't love Europe so much as a place if this attitude kicks in now we've told them we don't want to submit to all their petty rules and regulations.

'Suivi de la piste' - that's one that gets my goat. Although I am rarely if every made to submit to that diktat when I'm in Belgium, to be fair.

Presumably the E111 Health Card as well, must admit I hadn't considered that as the licence etc was valid before we joined the EU. I thought that I read that the licences etc wouldn't change immediately.
