Subaru Impreza?????

Ok to celebrate our quality season I am thinking of buying a second hand Impreza.
(well sounded like as good a reason as any:bounce:)

I'm not a car fanatic or anything and don't want one that looks like it's been crashed in the local branch of Halfords...
However I have seen quite a tasty 2006 2.5 WRX saloon which has only 28k on the clock and is going for 6k.
I haven't had a Subaru or anything like one tbh so would appreciate any input that anyone could offer?

 THANK YOU! AAAALLLLLLLBBBIOOOON!

Don't do it they have had their day. If it's six years old and only done 28k i would seriously get that checked out.

I thought this was another thread linking us to some exotic striker!

(I didn't really, I know it's a car. But what a name it would be for a striker!)

Up here on the left.
Check if the numbers are aligned on the odometer.
Check if the pedal rubbers are badly worn.
Check if the steering wheel has worn patches.

All signs that the mileage may be suspect.

Vicente knocks it long to Assaulin who squares it to Razzak, Razzak back heels to El Abd who chips into the path of Impreza, Impreza dribbles round the keeper and.......GOAL!!!!!

Well what equivalent would you suggest...
This one was understated, inexpensive but still an Impreza!

I suppose it depends if you want one or not really. Mechanically they are pretty good, just be aware the majority have probably been thrashed but then they should be built for for a bit of abuse. My concern is more about the image of them and those who drive them. Then again maybe i'm getting old.

I had a classic one, they go fast and make a lot of noise. everyone has one though, no exclusivity, get a nice cossie/pulsar/skyline instead.

Mitsubishi Lancer EVO is the answer

Yeah if you prefer plastic cars definitely go for the Evo...
Impreza WRX STI is a good bet unless you can afford...

ive got a 2003 wrx sti impreza . mines the top of the range one so not sure what a wrx is like . cant see it being much different . mines only done 40 000
miles and hasnt given me much trouble . in all the time ive had it ive had to replace the discs and pads and all the tyres. apprently a weakness with the sti is shock absorbers ... ive had to replace 2 on the same side since ive had it . again , i dont know if the wrx is different to the sti but mine has a heavy duty immobiliser which puts a strain on the battery especially when you dont drive it much like me , so ive had to replace the battery 3 times . apart from that nothing has gone wrong and those things are cheap and easy to do . the brakes were expensive though. i was quoted about 1800 i think but i bought the parts myself and got a mobile mechanic mate i know to do it for about 900 in total .

id imagine the running costs will be lower for a wrx . all in all im very happy , it handles really well if a little uncofortable:lolol: doesnt give me any grief and is as quick as you want a car to be in my opinion . its built well and is reliable .the wrx is still pretty quick aswell

if you need any more info let me know

I completely understand what you are saying and don't want that image, however the ones I am looking at are in the gun metal grey colour with the small boot spoiler instead of the huge 'i'm a boy racer type'.....

I had one back in 2000, loved it, very reliable, a bit basic, but does exactly what you think it will do. I changed to a Forrester Turbo S, and that was superb too, then a Legacy Outback, bit of a granddads car that one. If you're after performance and 4x4 how about an Audi S3, S4 or even an S6, performance and decent quality too.
