Having watched the Res the other evening I would say that Reid is nearing fitness and showed a good range of [passes to both the forwards and the wide men I would suggest playing him alongside Hammond in the middle and Fraser/O'Callaghan infront of the back 4 with Cox wide left Robinson wide right/striker with Forster down the middle. 2 out of 3 Savage Elder Revell on the bench to come on as needed so my team would be:

Kuipers (Cos we have no alternative)

Whing
Elphick
El Abd
Richards

Fraser/O'Callaghan

Robinson
Reid
Hammond
Cox

Forster

Subs:

O Sullivan
Butters
Elder
Savage
Fraser/O'Callaghan
I believe Reading played that system a lot when Forster was their main striker. He was quicker back then though. I think maybe he'd need a bit more support than that, especially given how lightweight Robinson and Cox are.

Kuipers
Whing Elphick Lynch Richards
Cox Hammond O'Callaghan Rents
Robinson Forster

I think that would be worth a go at least, it might not be physical enough for this league attack wise but worth trying at least. I think as much as a striker we need a PROPER winger. Even Cox isn't an out and out winger.

When he came back he got injured again very shortly after and I wonder whether or nothe is:
a. Injury Prone
b. Being rushed back too soon.

Neither will do him any favours. I am afraid I do not have a lot of faith in the BHA medical team going on past events, in fact I could even suggest that they appear like the rest of the back room staff very amateurish.

Did you see Arsenals line up yesterday 1 striker and 5 man midfield of which any 1 or more of them could break and support the striker.

But the new injury was nothing to do with the ankle issue.

A nice sweeping statement on the medical team, but ho hum.

They are a bit better on the ball than us though (also I thought they looked more likely to score when they had two strikers on, I was surprised Walcott didn't get a game up front with Adebayor but that's not the point, I think they could pull that formation off but we might not be able to).

We have played a similar system at times this season, with Revell as the right forward. It didn't really work.

I think that we could with Robinson on the right rather than Revell who for me does a lot of nothing.

But that is not what you wanted, you wanted Steak and Chips but didnt have the required ingredients.

We want goals from Forster but we do not have the right ingredients.

I think the Ghoulash mix could get us into the play-offs Not so sure about Steak and Chips.

I think on the right of midfield he might be an option.

However I have quite impressed with Martot, he looks a better footballer than a lof of our players.

Can't agree on that. A poor man's frutos.

Did he actually do anything on Saturday apart from have an air shot with an open goal?

I agree with BensGrandad, we simply do not have the ingredients for steak and chips at the moment. I think we possibly have the ingredients for a nice omlette though. We may be slightly lacking in chopped tomato (which would obviously put us up in the playoff bracket), but with a little extra pepper and some parmesan cheese, we should be comfortably mid-table.

I think ...

GK - Michel Kuipers

RB - Andy Whing
CB - Joel Lynch
CB - Tommy Elphick
LB - Matt Richards

RM - David Martot
CM - Dean Hammond
CM - George O'Callaghan
LM - Dean Cox

ST - Nicky Forster
ST - Alex Revell

Subs

Sullivan
El-Abd
Fraser - Come on when protecting a lead
Robinson - Come on to run at players when need a goal/not creating chances
Savage - Come on when we need a goal/not creating chances

Surely the omelette expectation only comes into play if Wendy leaves and is replaced by Gordon Ramsay...

glad someone
else doesn't think he is the answer

I also think that he is def not the answer to our midfiled problems....he has never shown it in the previous 2-seasons so why would he now ????
We need to get some-one in if poss who can actually pass the ball to our strikers and its not Martot

Did I read somewhere that we haven't had a defender score in 13 months?
