Hang one, I'm not saying we've rebuilt the squad that but I don't think it's that weak compared to last year.
Blackwell hadn't played for months when he was let go, same with Rodger.
McGhee has brought Hammond through the youth team into the first team set up so there's another squad member for you.

Tedium setting in now.

What exactly do you want me to explain?

We have 7 players less than this time last year. Hammond was already on a 3 month contract so we are still 7 less players. This time last year we did not have the transfer embargo to consider. How are we NOT in a weaker position?

At least this time last year we didn't have any funds from transfer dealings.......doh...... fell into the trap again.:shootself

The fella appears to have scored 4 goals in the Argentine Premier Division in his debut season, one of which was a winning goal against River Plate. Then as far as I can make out he failed to score any goals the following season and was released in 2004.

Last info i've found was a trial he had at NEC Nijmegen of the Dutch first division. I think he may have got a contract there because there's mention of him playing against Ajax last season. Guess he must have been released this summer.

Maybe McGhee saw how succesful Zsombor Kerekes and Ibrahim Tankary went on to be after he turned them down last summer, therefore he's going to sign EVERY trialist we get this summer to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Oh, and it's good to see the ignore function still works on here.

Hammond was not playing regular first team football last year.

We are hardly weaker hainvg let Jones and Watson go, they contributed a grand total of f*** ALL.

It's not as bad as you're making it out. I'm going into this season a lot more positive than I was last season. Let's just wait to see what McGhee can bring in either permanently or on loan and then talk about it because I'm boredd of you and I'm sure you're bored of me too.

I think Hammond is the best prospect at the club. i am suprised nobody has sniffed around him. He is the only midfielder you can rely upon to support the forwards.

He must start before Oatway this season.

If Hammond continues in the same form he finished last season then we may actually have our goalscoring midfielder.

That 17yr old last night was a spitting image of Hammond last night . . . or was that just me

Funny how you get bored when you repeatedly avopid the question. I am talking about the squad. Hammond was in the squad this time last year as were all the others i have mentioned.

Lets just wait and see what mm can bring in eh!?

Lets just see if we can get Falmer eh!? When i question the certainty of Falmer you go ape. At least we are in control of improving our squad. Even though according to you it doesn't need improving.

I don't think the squad is significantly weaker than last year. The only player we've lost that we're really going to miss is Virgo, but we've picked up a nice chunk of cash for the fella, and MM will have *some* funds to play with from that to strengthen the squad.

And yes, Hammond was in the squad last year, but he's come on like a bomb since then, and by the end of the season he already looked twice the player he was start of it. If Kaz is as good as we hope he is, and MM picks up a few shrewd signings over the next month or so, I don't see us being in a bad position at all.

The main area for concern at the moment is in goal. Not kept up to speed on the Blayney gossip, but if we can secure his services that'll do nicely.

I've just read the Bognor match report from the Argus:

"Mark McCammon, at full stretch, headed over from Jarrett's cross, then got in a mess in front of goal and somehow blocked his own shot with his non-kicking foot"

Maybe we could play in central defense this season. Should at least be unlikey to score an own goal.

we don't need another 'squad' striker, we need someone who can walk straight into our team.

if this bloke is not going to do that then why the **** are we signing him???

This Argie guy scored 7 goals in 52 apps in Serie B, which is a piss poor division.

Sounds like we've unearthed an South American McCammon?

serie b is not piss poor!! italians know how to defend.

Still i would hope if we were to sign a striker he would be able to score goals against good defensive sides.
