So I doubt it's going to happen.

Two points....

Firstly this rumor does the round about every six months. Every time it gets pooh poohed by one of the band members. Basically I'll be very surprised if it happens. That said money makes the world go round so who knows?

Secondly the whole "Ian Brown can't sing argument" is f***ing tedious! No one is going to disagree with that fact! But show me someone who has a better stage presence and I'm sure whoever that person is will be worth seeing! For that reason he's worth seeing. If you don't like Brown or the Roses then why bang on about it? One can only assume it's the case of "look at me I was at Spike Island" oneupmanship?

Indeed.

Although, it's nothing special is it - having been at Spike Island? After all, it seems like about 50,000 people were there...

I love the FACT that this thread is more interested in where Nick Cave buys his chips than the prospect of seeing The Stone Roses go creme brulee, horribly overrated band.

Don't get me wrong, not proper shite, just not THAT good (by which I don't mean Take That)

For me it is SO important that this DOESN´T happen. I was 16 when the album came out, saw them in Leeds on the Second Coming and loved everything about them.

Post Roses, the Shirehorses were shit, Browny has released some decent stuff but its been dimishing returns. A reunion would undoubtedly represent an anal raping of their reputation. Please, please, DON´T do it.

There's only one other group which would represent more of a disaster if the did a reunion tour.......................THE SMITHS.

Morrissey already does this, didn't you know?

There was rumours of this with an interview with John Squires where he said that Ian Brown and he had met at Squires' mum's funeral or somesuch occasion. They had mentioned songs but nothing had been discussed about reforming which of course sparked the reform rumours....however....

Ian Brown is still really bitter about it all and his last album has so many references to the Roses in such derogatory terms, I just can't believe a man who wrote those lyrics and especially that last song on the album would have the front to reform with them. He's also said time and time and time again that he has moved on.

Personally speaking if they did reform then I won't go. I was fortunate to see them first time round and have no desire to have my memories shattered by middle-aged blokes going through the motions. Excuse the blatant plug but I wrote about it on my blog here de-minimis: i hope they die before they get old

Agree with this. Although I never went to see them I remember the time very well. Also remember the first time I listened to their first album, whilst snogging my new girlfriend. Happy teenage days.

Mark n Lard.....wasn't it? as for The Seahorses I was lucky enough to see them in Portsmouth, great show and it snowed hard that night, really enjoyed them. I'm at a certain age now where I can't be bothered with the merits of where and why, i hope it happens and I hope I get a ticket, Manchester will be perfect, i'll have a few beers with the lads, a bit of a laugh, a sing up and try not to over think the situation

I hate it when bands reform, I don't understand it (apart from them making money).

I'm a huge Smiths fan, but the thought of them getting back together makes me feel ill.

Leave it well alone. Its been done. Why anyone would want to be surrounded by fat 40+ balding blokes,
dancing badly, talking about back in the day... is beyond me

Enjoy.
Saw the entire Grinderman play live in the King Alfred Ballroom three years ago and it was absolutely oustanding

Me and the wife did as well. What a gig that was eh? We stood a foot from the band the entire evening. Frau Tubthumper has never been the same since Cave placed his hand on her head and sang to her. I've done the similar, but it does not seem to have the same effect on the missus.

I figured I wouldn't be alone in my feelings of disinterest. After everything Ian Brown has said about never reforming, to go back on that feels like a cynical ploy to make themselves some cash. And it aint the Roses without Reni on Drums.
