Blimey that wasn't an easy watch. Well done to our fans for making the long journey.

I echo what most have said on here tonight. We do look very lightweight in the squad now injuries have hit us and several players did little to enhance their chances of getting a start in a Prem game. However, most Prem teams don't try and kick you off the pitch like Stoke.

Wow really? Dunk was awful tonight, only had to look at his face when got MOM :D
I reckon every free kick or corner he headed out. Yes he gave the ball away twice cheaply and got done once but other than that was class. In stoppage time he won 3 or so headers and just attacked the ball. I do wonder if people miss the little things sometimes…

Very good shout. A distinctive lack of fluidity around the area.

Sarmiento and Goodnight have tons of potential bit they're miles off the same level currently.
Give our young players time - the talent is there but team pairings and communication skills (such as March and Lallana have, or that Mac Allister and Caicedo have for example, take time to develop - especially with the amount of rotation we have under RDZ and he is also still trying out these young players in different positions to see what sticks best. I think Facu and Undav’s lack of communication (which led to Fulham’s goal against us) is an example of that weakness - Literally language barriers and a lack of experience in the team.

I was impressed with Sarmiento tonight - I love Facu and predicted he would start for us this season weeks ago but he has some football weaknesses (like a weak right foot at times and slow/hesitant to tackle/be aggressive ) - Sarmiento I thought was definitely the better of the two in 1v1s tonight.

Steele was immaculate tonight
that’s what i meant by ‘faultless’ - if anyone from our side was MOTM, it should be him

(but it had better reaction coming from you 😂)

I thought it was a mixed performance. Some great passing and patterns of play as always, but sloppy finishing and a bit sloppy at the back at times, but we win and deservedly so, Stoke are a very average championship team and you can only beat what’s in front of you.

Hardly an open goal. Took a yellow card for the team, played a couple of decent balls and linked up play. Not really sure why he gets so much grief. Not like he’s had a decent run in the team.
Agreed. Forwards are always judged more harshly than other positions.

He’s not the player I thought we were getting though. I thought he was going to be a poacher but he looks a better link player from his brief appearances so far.

Silly old bat
Time for ITV to roll out the old cliche that we need a centre forward … one of the highest scoring teams in 2023…

Stoke made it tough for a reshuffled side with quite a lot of youngsters. The type of game we’d have lost many times through the years. I’m happy enough!
It’s the first time we’ve won in Stoke since 1961.

Start Veltman on Saturday with Lamptey on the left if Pervis not fit. Slot Gross in midfield and pray that March is fit!
