Sorry, but I disagree with a lot of that. The Albion have always had a large fan base, helped by the fact that we are the only League club in the county (until recently with the addition of Crawley). The nearest other clubs being over forty miles away. When we were at Withdean it was difficult to get match day tickets and with a capacity of only 6,000 initially to 7,800 in the later years. It was rare that attendances went below 90% of capacity.

Your point about a huge proportion of ‘fans’ who only want to follow us in the Prem also doesn’t ring true. Apart from the first two seasons at the Amex (when it wasn’t fully developed) our average attendance, when we played in the Championship, was between 26,000 to 28,000 - and always there was a waiting list for season tickets. That does not smack of glory hunting JCLs to me.

With reference to the possibility of us being relegated to the Championship and how that will affect attendances - who knows? I don’t think anyone is going to relinquish their season tickets by the start of March as we will still be very much in contention in retaining our PL status

25,000? season ticket holders just now and an 8,000 waiting list, even if 3,000 s/t holders dropped out for a second season of Championship football, we’d still be sitting pretty. If others ditched the waiting list, we’re left in a far better position than say 5 years ago.

I agree with your general point. However, the season ticket waiting list only arrived with the Premier League. You could still buy half season tickets at Christmas in the promotion season.

Last DD for the 18/19 season went out without a problem. Knew it automatically renewed so didn’t do anything.Didn’t realise that the first DD for this season didn’t go out. Only realised they’d stopped going out when the second month wasn’t taken.

Rang the club and was passed from pillar to post for weeks. Eventually told the club had nothing to do with it and they claimed either my bank cancelled the DD or I had. Spoke to the bank and they said it wasn’t them. Went back to the club who said my ticket had now been cancelled automatically as I’d missed the next payment (yes it took nearly a month to sort this) and that if I didn’t pay the 3 months then plus 3 sets of late fees in one lump sum I wouldn’t get my ST back. I was also at this point I was told they couldn’t confirm if I even would be able to get my old seat back.

My missus & youngest son will be renewing theirs - they still really enjoy it out there, regardless of the results.

Won't be renewing this season. £860 in the WSL is now too much, considering the state of the football, as well as the chopping and changing of home game times. I'm no longer enjoying myself, and the £860 can be spent on other things.

Happy to be shot down, of course I want us to play at the highest level and maintain our Premier League status BUT it really doesn't matter to me. I enjoy watching the Albion, meeting up with mates, the beautiful game and experiencing new grounds etc, I enjoyed this just as much at Kidderminster Harriers as I did a Old Trafford, so I'll always have a ST and continue, I hope, to enjoy being with the Albion family in whatever league, ground or pub that takes us to.

I wholeheartedly agree with pretty much all of what you say BUT as it's not my intention to renew I do contest that not having a season ticket doesn't make you not part of the family. I imagine there are many on here that don't but still consider themselves Albion thru and thru.

I nearly cancelled early in the season in a fug of VAR induced depression. I'm only faintly over that but I don't really enjoy football on TV so I'll give it another season.
Though part of that is also the recognition that I've got three small children and the missus would kill me if she knew how much it actually cost.
Though on the other hand without my 19 (possibly 23) alloted escapes per year I might kill her.
