The Guardian tore it apart, The Times wasn't keen, The Torygraph gave it a decent review.

Ah well CM, the 7 papers I got it 5 gave it 4 stars and 1 , 5 stars. Kermode also rated it highly. Still each to their own.

Each to their own mate. 27% of people give it 10 out of 10 on imdb, 4% give it 1. I think the end was in the old style tradition as is all the film really and a tribute and nod to classic films of the past.

If your going to use IMDB as a basis of evidence on support for this turkey may I draw your attention to the written reviews section........

War Horse Reviews Ratings - IMDb

To say that they are mixed would be an understatement. This is one of those films you that will either love or hate.....

Sorry to say but I'm firmly in the hate bracket.

Average 7.5 , suggests far more people like it than not, if it was 50/50 it would have a rating of 5.0.

Still I am done with this. I have my viewpoint and you have yours but the subject is done now.

It has had great feedback TMP, just don't like silent films. I will watch it on dvd. It was the biggest winner at the GG's last night and will win about 6 Oscars. War Horse stiffed on its 2 nominations, it will get the same 2 nominations for the Oscar's and not win any. The film has tanked at the USA with $ 65m and NSC declares it shit so I think we can put the subject to bed now. Thanks for the input.

This is an incomplete analysis. I haven't, nor shall I be going to see the film. Personal preference. If you like it, grand. If you don't, fair enough. I'm firmly on the fence. But you should provide a complete breakdown of all scores from 1 to 10 to provide the full picture.

Your x voted 1, y voted 10 does not show the full picture especially with an average of 7.5, which is by no means a stellar rating.

My two pennies worth.

I saw Claudia Winkleman's review last night and it was as cheesy as the movie. "I cried at least 7 times". Yes, me too but only because I'd wasted a Sunday afternoon watching it. She must be looking for an interview with Spielberg the way she was sucking up to him about War Horse.

Or possibly she liked it ? I do know ET is her favourite film of all time. I know NSC hates this thought but a lot of people actually really love the film, sorry about that. Anyway I get the message it is SHIT as far as NSC is concerned, what a shocker. Subject closed, time to move on to something else.

This does make interesting reading. Given the full stats, I'd say you're probably right about popular opinion (though always take the internet with a pinch of salt). I'll remain on the fence about the film, the view is nice from here.

Shows 61.6% of people gave it 8 or more.

You're very dismissive about opinions when they don't match your own. If people like the movie I don't have a problem with their opinions, however, my opinion (and that of others), despite being negative is just as valid. You can't just say "I disagree with what you're saying-let's move on to something else" to everybody who disagrees with you.

Oh, and for the record, what she found to cry 7 times over is a mystery to me.

See the hypocricy ? and you are finding things that people say as it does not fit into you own agenda as mismissed, see post 112 for a classic example.

You have totally contradicted yourself in one sentence. I have put an * to give you a guide.

No it's not.

An example of being "dismissive about opinions when they don't match your own" is when someone says "I give it 3/10" and your reaction is "ho hum, most people give it 8" with a kind of flippant, they're picking on me/water off a ducks back attitude.

Here, Bwian is just making a point.

Personally I simply don't want to see it because there is absolutely no way it will be anything like as good as the west end show and I don't want it to take the shine off that.

And I do wish someone else had started this thread. As always, there is an undercurrent of you feeling you are being personally attacked whenever anyone disagrees with you. Why? Because you always feel you HAVE to counteract every single negative point raised by anyone else. All very tiresome.

Really? I was just warming up.

I was going to go into the reasons as to why War Horse is a failure (and will go down in history as a failure) and then follow that up with why you are a terrible reviewer of movies. After that, I was going to explain to you why your Spielberg's best ever movie poll ended up with "Hook" being the winner.

But if your "done with this" I don't think I'll bother.
