The man is an expert on 72 football league teams, despite knowing nothing about the vast majority of them. The difference between Claridge and Savage is humility. Claridge has an attitude, whereas Savage knows he is expressing an opinion and others won't agree with him. Claridge speaks as if he is the gospel. Yes, he praised us, but he's hardly alone in that and frankly, how could he be anything BUT complimentary?! Rubbish pundit.

The only facepalm I would use is for the fans griping on here. Claridge's comments were possibly the biggest endorsement of Gus and the team we have ever had.... he called us the real deal.... what more do you want?

Give the bloke a break.

He was extremely complementary about us, he gushed that we were the real deal, so much so that other teams were having to change their normal style of play, in order to contain us.

Why the constant persecution complex stuff on here ?

Spot on Mart.
People are so quick to slate Claridge for one incorrect judgement on here. Claridge has said a lot more complimentary things than negative things in the last 12 months...I wish people would just give him a him a break, how many other Footballs pundits are out there with his lower-league knowledge.
Mark Lawrenson is the biggest :tosser: out there!!

Perhaps what Claridge was meaning to say is Liam has replaced Elliott as the one to make us tick? personally i always thought Bridcutt under stewardship of Kish did that anyway-must be the only logical reasoning for such a remark.

Claridge said we had an aura, and that we forced other teams to change their way of playing, and we deserve to be top of the league........I don't think I've ever heard the Abion getting higher praise! He can mix up players' names as all he likes as far as I care!

Loved that programme on Saturday night!

Anyone who has actually listened to what Claridge has said about us since he played for us will know he has been very very supportive of the club as a whole and has actually attended quite a few games during that time. He has also been supportive of the stadium campaign.

He made ONE comment about taking our style of play into the Championship, but I didn't think it was negative, just objective.

He was so excited about Brighton on 5live the other night, it was almost like he was our promoter!

Forgive him his minor mistake last night and focus on the many many positive things he has said over the past few of years.

Claridge = :thumbsup:

Yes he got muddled last night on a player's name and yes he made one comment that raised a question about is playing tippy tappy at a higher level but I've always enjoyed listening to him and will never forget him running his bollocks off for us away at West Ham a few years ago in the twilight of his career.

I'd also argue that we have upped our game and evolved our style in the past few months - evidence: MK Dons succeeding in closing us down and stopping us playing season.

The man is a legend, if only for the play-off goal against Palarse at Wembley. I heard him on the radio when we played Sunderland, and he was so complementary it was almost embarrassing. Leave him alone!!

Agreed. To be fair, the other dude DID try and correct him when they ran the VT of Harleys goal. I think he just got his names mixed up! He said some nice things, give him a break!
