Why dont you have any faith in the jury's ability to extricate the media coverage from what they heard in the court room and from the judge's summary?

Just out of interest what would have happened if the jury had called Not Guilty ? Somehow this would have gone to re trial.

To be fair he hasn't made a racist comment ( at least not in this thread - I don;t know about others ). He's commented on the ability of the justice system to give a fair trial after such heavy media attention. There's a "wierdo" in Bristol who quite clearly would have never got a fair trial thanks to our blood thirsty media.

Hi entire agenda boils down to bigotry and prejudice

I do hope so.

I remember one occasion when the Albion were playing at Gillingham and the Bracknell posse were travelling to the game by train. The seats next to us were occupied by Stephen Lawrence's father and his lawyer, who were on their way to a meeting about the case. Overhearing their conversation (as you do, on trains), it was very obvious what a decent family the Lawrences were, and how distressed they felt about the fact that justice was being denied to them. It is incredible how long this has dragged out.

Excellect points, what happens now to those others involved ? From The Mets point is the case now closed ?

I would assume that the law comes after them next, as they have at the very least given a false alibi or two for those who were convicted today. Perjury would be the least of their crimes I would have thought, potentially all the way up to conspiracy to murder, or accessories to murder. It has been suggested that one of those convicted today may spill the beans on what happened and crucially who delivered teh fatal blow, in an attempt to agree a lesser sentence for themself, but personally, I very much doubt that.

The mother lied about their son's whereabouts o the night so I would assume some repurcussions from that?

The police have said without further evidence to put them at the scene, there is no hope of a conviction, barring the two convicted implicating them. Which doesn't look likely.

Sorry, been a bit busy with replies, why aren't I pleased ? because this was an agenda rather than a trial, I believe the evidence was too tainted to have been allowed at trial, I dont believe that they could have got a fair trial considering the media frenzy, and i certainly dont believe that we have a judiciary that is totally seperate from political influence.

But the jury has decided that the evidence wasn't tainted (and i know from my jury experience that they would have had more information than you and I) and, regardless of any political agenda, we are both agreed that they were invoved in the 'incident' and under joint enterprise they are guilty, so the right result isn't it ?

That's a shame, and rather suprising that the others have never given statements under oath placing these 2 elsewhere at the time of the murders.

I just cannot help thinking that the political pressure to convict these men overrode any surety of justice for them, I shan't lose any sleep, they seemed a evil little gang.

Again Stephen Lawrence's family seem to have conducted themselves very well and all fair minded people would feel deep sympathy for them, it was a heinous crime.

However there did seem a political will to convict these men, at any cost, due mostly to the colour of their's and their victim's skin.

I would not expect that others from the 'white communities' could possibly expect the same rigours for the many black on white crimes that remain unresolved, some with the same tragic outcomes as Stephen Lawrence's.

People rightly demand consistency from our justice system and it will fail others in comparison.

Hither (sometimes Thither)
A few more racists tried for murder and Bushy could easily be 2012's most prolific poster.

What excellent news. Not of the directly above, but of that pair of foul-hearted fiends being justifiably punished.

Then clearly you haven't read them properly.

While I'm glad two murderers have been convicted, I'm more than slightly nervous about the political and media pressure surrounding the case. The murder in Bristol last year clearly shows what agenda the media have - anyone they can pin anything on will be in their sights. Let's hope it's the right person !!!!!

Would be easier to take this more seriously if you didn't have an agenda yourself.
