Decided to shift the stubborn wait once and for all.

Weighed in at a hefty 15 stone 7 pounds today (fat bastard i know!)

I will take before and after pictures and post them at the end of the diet in about 4 to 5 months time (which is what i estimate it will take).

Aiming to lose about 4 stone of fat (i know it's a lot!) and i WILL do it.

Will do alot of swimming, running (if my knees will let me) and other cardio, also weight training.

I will give weekly or fortnightly updates of the progress i'm making, if you're interested :lolol:

And with Christmas coming up i'm going to have to be doubly careful.

Vital statistics are: 27, male, 5-foot-8, 15-stone-7 (217 pounds), bmi 33 (over 30 classed as OBESE), natural waisteline of 43 inches.

WISH ME LUCK! (Well, luck that i don't get injuries)

Cheers :bigwave:

Additional: if anybody else is doing weight loss programs or even weight gain or muscle gain programs feel free to add

Have you been to see your GP for advice before starting the diet ? Try and lose the weight gradually and attempt not to pig out at Christmas and New Year which is the time you can easily put on another 10lbs.

I'm no expert in the slightest (although I do think that the atkins diet sounds retarded), but is it that clever or worthwhile to go doing loads of cardio and weight-training whilst on a low-carb diet?

You WILL lose weight. Probably a stone within 2 weeks

If you can stick to it.

Basically no sugar. You will get a headache, you will feel dizzy, you will feel tired, your limbs will ache.

You will crave crave crave something sweet to eat.

You will put it back on when you reintroduce carbs.......unless you run 20 or so miles a week.

But good luck

The Atkins diet is just initial, it starts off with low carbs, to initially use your stored fat as an energy source, then after a few weeks you can re introduce cardohydrates. Don't worry i'cve got it all pegged

Not been to see GP although i don't think they are against the atkins diet. after about a month i'll be back on things like oats for brekkie and fuits (cos you can't eat it for the first two weeks) and pitta breads. its just initially to kick start the weight loss. Christmas is going to be an unwanted distraction, but i'll be on best behaviour

It starts off with virtually zero carbs. You can eat all the meat in the world but by f*** you'll be trying to shit a cannon ball after a week.

why not try a low GI diet where the carbs you eat are good ones that release energy over a longer period.

The Atkins diet works but its for life and you'll never be able to eat stuff like bread again !!!

You are right in what you say, but i think because i'll be exerciseing probably 5 times a week, then hopefully my mind will be so focused on that i won't feel the need to deviate. For sweetness i think some sugar free next to no calories Robinson squash will do the trick along with another daily 8 glasses of water

You're allowed something like 12-15 net grams of carbs daily, mainly coming from veg.

I'll stick to this for now, until i've got rid of a stone, then i'll re-introduce things like as i said oats, pittas etc and just generally keep it healthy until i've reached my goal.

Cheers

I think the concern is that when you have reached this goal, the diet can very easily undo itself. Whilst you may intend to keep the exercise and healthy eating up, you can't really legislate for what may come later in your life...
