The issue for the Tories will be when this debate doesn’t turn the dial in the polls. That’s the moment they’ll realise most of them are history.

'Gentleman please', I think they should have had someone like Nigel Owens the rugby referee holding it.

'Mr Sunak- ENOUGH'

I’ve not lived in the UK for years and don’t know all that much (or really care that much) about the current problems over there.

But I’m watching this, and all I can think of is that this is such a poor format for a debate. Short time constraints for questions that need much more to provide complex and nuanced responses and rebuttals.

This is just this weeks newspaper headline generator.
Very much this. And for Starmer's 45 seconds, much of it is Sunak interrupting and talking over him.

This is dreadful.
If I’d been convicted of a crime whilst being defended by Kier I would be looking to appeal right now. As for Rushi what is there to like bar his slightly better debating skills. Can’t believe these are the best candidate for the main 2 parties in this country.
The judge doesn’t let people talk over each other unlike the presenter here. A big disadvantage for Starmer who is way out of his courtroom comfort zone. Rishi has been schooled in public school debating societies where it’s about interrupting and keeping your cool.

Neither coming out of this well at all. Confirming it really is like a choice between picking whether to contract HIV or Ebola. Amazingly would say Sunak probably landing the bigger blows and Starmer failing to defend them. Taxing pensioners going to go down like a lead balloon and Starmer not denying it.

I've got a feeling that the ref might soon have to do better than "a gentle reminder".
