You get to press big Fisher-Price buttons, when actually playing the guitar is easier. But I guess this isn't the thread for me.

Put it this way: I absolutely love playing the guitar and I lreally ike playing on the Playstation. But I've never been tempted by what I've seen of it.

Are MoH or an imposter?

It looks like me. It certainly smells like me. So I think it's me.

This argument about getting a real guitar is nonsence

I used to have a spanish guitar, I had lessons and quite honestly i was useless at it. I used to practise and practice and eventually I learned a few chords and ended up being able to play a tune or two (mostly beatles chords)

the playstatiuon game gives you the oppertunity to have a go ( albeit a game and nothing like a real guitar) at such tracks as Freebird and Sweet Child of Mine, which I know very proficient guitarists who wouldnt even attempt the track.

It is not a replacement for a guitar, its a GAME and a bloody excellent one.

Your argument is a bit like me saying to someone who enjoys karioki to stop doing that and go and get lessons so you can sing Mozart!

You'd be absolutely right to say that though! That would be a good thing to do, if you like singing. In the same way that, if by wanting to play this game you obviously have some interest in playing the guitar then why not just play the guitar? You can buy guitars for about £30-40, about the same cost as this game. ???

......yes but to play some of the stuff you can have a go at on GH would take you years and years of perfecting, and even then that is assumeing you have the ability to learn that level of technical expertese.

I have been singing for 15 odd years and only now would I say I am reasonably good at it, however i still after all those years cannot pitch and rely on an instrument or fellow singer to pitch the opening notes

As i say, its a GAME and a bloody good one. I fail to see why people who can play a guitar are so sarky about people who enjoy this GAME

That might work if you wanted to play Ba Ba black sheep, but you'll have to be playing the guitar for years to have to attempt some of the tracks on GH. I want to play Freebird now!!

...because games, whilst fun - and I'm speaking as a 36 year old who spent large amounts of Christmas time off chasing Lego characters around Star Wars locations - are ultimately rather pointless time-eaters that don't actually achieve much. But I don't think learning an instrument or music is - you learn how music works and, besides, do you think any girl was ever impressed by hearing a bloke say "Hey - I am SHITHOT at a Playstation game" , compared to how impressed they are by people being able to play them something on the piano or guitar? Birds love that shit.

fair enough, but turn that on its head.....by playing Gran Tourismo or a racing type game, to use the argument that people should be instead learning a proper guitar, then the same people should be driving high performance cars all the time, when we all know that is not possible for average Joe.

Its escapism, that is all.

No way - I reckon anyone could learn to play that within 2-3 months, depending on the amount of time devoted to it etc. Seriously.

That's my point: playing the REAL guitar is easy! Unlike, say, the violin or something.

Except that Gran Turismo costs £10 in HMV (I know, I just bought it). A high-performance car costs a bit more than that, I think. Whilst, as I said, a guitar costs the same as that game.
