At the foot of the downs
I shall be quaffing a few beers, and admiring Real Madrid.

The only good thing abut St Patricks day is that Guiness is Oyrish so they give out loads of free stout to commemorate it.

Well they did at Canary Wharf last year, and it was GREAT. :drink:

I get to listen to drunk Americans claiming they are Irish because their great grandmother was Irish or they named their dog Shamus.
Sorry, but you're about as Irish as the queen mother's tits.

I'm rather baffled by this sudden appearance of St Patrick's day as a day to celebrate. Fair enough if you're Irish, or of Irish descent, but why do people without an ounce of Irish blood feel the urge to drink more than usual because it's Paddy's day?

Very bizarre.

Ahh, Harry. The greatest day of the year.

I shall be in the Wheatsheaf in Tooting getting drunk off my arse and getting emotional to Feargal Sharkey's "A good heart these days.."

:drink: :drink: :drink: :clap2:

Does anyone know of any pubs in Brighton that are showing the Real Madrid game? Most of the pubs I know will be showing Liverpool v Pompey.....

At work someone Irish has offered to buy drinks provided we let him go on about the rugby. As I'm not that upset by Ireland beating England every now and again, I'm happy to go along.

Why we have to celebrate St Patrick's Day in this country is beyond me. I am English and the only patron saint that matters is St George. It is about time we celebrated our own patron saint and culture in style.

Sadly it appears now that being proud to be English can be considered racist.

Before anyone says anything, I know St George was Maltese.

Probably the same reason most people don't ever go anywhere near a church unless somebody died, got married or they want to nick the lead off the roof - but we still find it in our hearts to get pissed as a colony of endangered Falmer newts for all 12 of the 12 days of Xmas :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink:

A pedant writes: actually Guinness is English, insofar as its parent company (Diageo) is British and the beer you're drinking actually comes from west London.

A very unimpressive stout, in my opinion. Try one of the bottled Sam Smith's stouts or porters and you won't want the dreary megabrand ever again ... well I don't anyway.:)

Happy St Pat's day to Harry and to all of you on NSC :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink: :drink:

I'll be at work today :nono: :nono: :nono: so no big blowout, but on Sunday, with 24,000 London Irish fans packed into the Madjeski, well, that's a different matter entirely. We have the Commitments playing before the game, it's a record crowd for a club rugby game in Britain and once again we show our landlords how to fill their ground :lolol:  :drink: :drink: :drink:

Must admit, I too am baffled by the celebrations that St Patricks Day generates in England. Must be because I'm English and can't stand Guiness.

April 23rd - Much more special
