For me, it comes down to time. We have a young baby and two other kids, so taking three nights off in a week to watch the football seemed a little harsh on my wife. So I chose to skip Liverpool because it is a noddy competition, plus I have already paid for the other two games.

My reason is that I don't think either Poyet or Dalglish in all honesty give a Rats arse about the competition so am not convinced many essential BHAFC players will be risked or any Liverpool " stars ". May as well watch it in Sky and save the money and costs.

Being Liverpool's only real hope of silverware this season, and with no European matches to worry about, I think you're wrong. Kenny played a very strong team against Exeter in the last round and I expect the same next week, if not stronger (likely to be Gerrard's comeback).

It will be a strong team, but I'd be surprised if there were fewer than 5 changes from the team that played in the Premiership 3 days beforehand.

And although Liverpool will have a chance in this competition and the FAC, the league is surely their priority especially as 4th place looks more attainable now that Arsenal are struggling (by their standards). Clearly 4th place is going to be a race between Liverpool, Arsenal and Spurs with Liverpool the favourites. They won't bugger that up by playing their first team in the league cup.

They played pretty much their first team at Exeter in between games at Arsenal and Bolton so I don't see a reason why they won't do it again. Yes some rotation, but only 2 or 3 I reckon

All four reasons above, plus 'if it goes to pens, might not get home with my son till 2.30 on a school night' and 'my cousin was really keen to go'. It all stacked up, really, but tbh if it wasn't on Sky I might have gone anyway.

3 evening games in a week is a big ask from 200 miles away, so I'm thankful that I can enjoy 2 with chums in the pubs of Bristol and only have to do the 400 mile round trip for Palace.

Blimey, weren't you one of the many who was desperate to get to Wembley in the JPT? Now the Carling Cup is Noddy? How times change.

Would have liked to have gone but with the Leeds and Palace game coming so soon after couldn’t really afford this one…. I think I’ll save my readies for the final against Chelsea ;-)

Also, a bit sad I know but I quite like the idea of seeing the lads in 3D on the telebox, I’m just hoping we give a good account of ourselves because I’ll be accompanied by a load of Palace fans.

Same as Bozza. My seat won't be empty though. It is being used for both the Liverpool and Leeds games. I'll be there for Palace.

Same reasoning for me (although only got one young baby) and the fact I would have probably struggled to get down in time from work in London.

can't be bothered tbh. Too much hassle to get down from London for a coca cola cup game. Will watch with my bro at the sports cafe with booze in hand.

Will, of course, be at Leeds and Palace games

A scouse pal of mine who is coming down for the match assures me he has an 'inside line' at Anfield whatever that is, and tells me it was Liverpool who dug their heels in about the match being Wednesday not Tuesday, in which case it would suggest they will be fielding a strong team whereas Manu are playing Sunday & Tuesday but will inevitably play a 'reserve' team at Leeds.
