You gave one reason which defies debate (superstition), one incomplete reason (it's Hinsh the crock's shirt) and one BOLLOCKS reason (centre-backs don't wear 4).

I never said centre backs DON'T wear 4. I said it wasn't a centre back's number.

I dare say if I could be ARSED, I could find examples of centre backs wearing 2, 3 12, 15, etc, but you're not arguing that he should be given those numbers.

Carragher wears 23. Why isn't Elphick allowed 23?

You argued that he should get 4, on the basis that it IS a traditional number for a player in his position to wear.

It isn't. You are WRONG, but as ever, for some reason you find it impossible to admit that, that is the case.
