I’m happy to see young players given a go but I draw the line at Thomason. He is a number nine bat, who doesn’t take wickets.

I agree. If they want a tail ender to open, why didn't they pick Beer? He's opened before and he has a much better FC average than Thomason

Why so much negativity? We have a good stream to watch without getting cold outside. Haines is batting well. And when Salt, Head and Jordan come into the team we won't be too bad.

As they mentioned on the commentary, Chris Adams has said that people need to be patient with the Championship team this season, as there are a number of youngsters coming through.

Haines has done a good job so far, just about the only player who looks 'in'.

Presume this has now evolved into the official Match Thread?

40-4 didn't look very clever, but 194-6 with two set batsmen at Tea?

It has 211 all out written all over it.

154 and counting, can someone try and peel his mask off and see if it’s actually Virat Kohli under there?

253-7 Robinson goes for an excellent 59.

I have no idea of who most of the side are but guess the tail end are not going to hang around so time for Haines to give it some numpty?

NB just noticed this is Haines's best 1st Class score...

It was not always the case last season, but today we have shown some fight. That is the minimum requirement.
And Haines showed a lot more than that, obviously. What an innings.
