We had confirmation of the squad numbers around this time last year.

We’ve undergone a lot of change.
Yep. But A fair bit of that turnover happened either last summer (Clarke, Scherpen, Mwepu, Andone, Alzate, Koslowski) we’re all loaned or left or likewise in Jan (Maupay, Trossard) or before end of last season ( Sanchez) or injured (Moder) so it seems more than it was , and is already baked in.

This year we have returning loanees (Adingra, Alzate), new signings (Milner, Joao Pedro, Dahoud, Igor Julio and Verbruggen ) with perhaps a couple more to come and several u21s tbc stepping up) .

Similar to most seasons .

With key summer outgoings (MacAllister, Colwill) and other loans ( Sarmiento) and sales (Connolly, ) mirroring the loss of White, Bissouma etc

But core squad remains (Steele, McGill, Lamptey, Dunk, Webster, JPVH, Veltman, Estupinan , Caicedo for now, Gross, Mitoma, March, Lallana, Gilmour, Ferguson, Welbeck , Undav, McGill) and January’s arrivals too (Ayari, Buonanotte)

It’s a fairly normal season in terms of turnover (for Brighton at least) . We normally have 15+ loanees and on track for that this year and some purchases for future loaned out (eg: Mazilu) .

But not all wrapped up yet !
Lots more u21 loans to go, several out of favour squad members to exit, a few more incoming and will we keep Caicedo - and everyone else - after all ?

So with Colwill staying at Chelsea & the Caicedo situation being pretty clear in that we’ll either finish the window with the player or a lot of money in compensation… what is left that we need to sign? We seem set for goalkeepers, just got to shift Sanchez. RDZ has said he’s got enough up front. You would think Mitoma, March, Adingra, Enciso, Pedro, and Buonanotte is enough in terms of wingers or wide forwards. Centre mid we have decent options if Caicedo stays. So all I really see us going for is a Pervis back up (maybe that player could also be cover for LCB), a few more of our usual “ones for the the future” that then get loaned out (Asprilla possibly), and maybe if the right deal can be struck on a player that improves us overall quite substantially like Kudus.

Has bw3 got a view? Apologies but I put him on ignore. I may unignore him to check. Apart from his monotonic obsession about you know what, that gave, what my old man used to call, my arse an ear ache, he seemed a nice lad.

No, been very quiet

A whole transfer window and he has not mentioned strikers once!!
If anyone on here really believes that three strikers, in terms of Pedro, Ferguson and Welbeck, is enough to get us through the extended season that awaits us, I think you're living in cloud cuckoo land. We need at least one more striker in my view, especially now we've let Undav go on loan (wtf?). Awaits flak from all those who know (or think they know) better.......

You think you know better than De Zerbi himself? That's very, er, bold, @Zebedee

I trust DeZ and co completely but agree only 3 strikers seems light to me. On the other hand I guess Groß could always do a job up front, I mean he does well enough in any other position.
:gross:
Maybe we need one more. But it doesnt feel so light if RDZ see's Ferguson, Welbeck, and Pedro as options for a single number 9 role, and Mitoma, Enciso, March and Adingra as options to support them. 7 players to fill 2 or 3 roles.

The defence still looks light in numbers especially as Karbownik is likely to move on and maybe Offiah gets a loan out. I still favour a right back signing but maybe more of a utility defender is wise.

IMHO we need to sign competition for Pervis at LB/LWB and Solly at RW, plus keep Moises, then we are done

Interesting to see which youngsters have got squad numbers. I'm sure some of them will still be loaned ot this season though. Surprising omissions are James Furlong, who did well in the SPL last season, and Zeqiri. Moves away imminent?

Reports (Naylor) - that despite frustration of Zeqiri’s agent (“was hoping to show new manager” ) that he’s not in RDZ plans. Yep Furlong likely to be loaned gives en a few rumours/reports of interest.
Agree re the numbered Weir, Offiah, Peupion, Samuels, Moran, Hinshelwood - no guarantee they will stay.

Would have been nice if they’d got Dahoud’s name right

Surprised there is no news or rumours of Offiah and Moran going on loan. Both around the 1st team squad last year but neither taken to the USA. Haven't read of any injury issues so seems a bit strange.
