[Albion] Spurs bag search farce

My small carrier bag containing an assortment of crisps, chocolate bars, fruit and 3 rounds of homemade sandwiches was searched on entry yesterday. Steward confiscated our sandwiches - jobsworth Supervisor backed him up. Not allowed to collect later. How utterly pathetic - as with all these situations, there is no logic. Allow fruit, chocolate, crisps etc in - but home made Boxing Day turkey sandwiches? Heavens NO! Small minded Club with no common sense. Homeless people 1/4 mile away from WHL could have done with them - but no, into the bin they went.

Compounded by £60 parking ticket - just where can you park?! All car parks were full.... hey ho.

On a happier note, bumped into Michael McIntyre leaving the Sainsbury's car park - he was very complimentary about our football and our 3-0 home win. What a gent.

Anyway UTA!

Stupid approach re the sarnies..........

Arrived fairly early but walked past at least 4-5 'matchday parking' type places in industrial units or schools (prices varied from £8-£20) in a 15 min stroll to the ground. I guess with far fewer trains more must have driven and the spaces filled up rapidly..........I'd rented a driveway - there was plenty of on-street parking nearby but with 'event day' restrictions

Why would you drive to WHL?

Spurs communicated to fans of the issues around Boxing Day travel (3 or 4 emails) doesn’t sound like it was passed on to Brighton or Brighton didn’t forward it on.

Quite often drive to away games and didn't think Boxing Day traffic would be too bad. Left Burgess Hill about 9am, was parked up by 10.30, a 15 min stroll from the ground. Getting home was a bit slower obviously (OK once on to the North Circ) but trip was OK, listening to the afternoon games on the way - was home before 5pm. For 3 of us, cheaper than 3 rail fares too and I suspect a bit more comfortable.

Similar here, nice easy drive. Parked in IKEA (no restrictions) decent brekkie there, gentle 20 min stroll to the ground and easy journey back. For this particular fixture on this date and time it worked perfectly.

This. Play the w******s at their own game.

Absolutely. When Spurs visit us next year, stop the sods bringing in flasks. No matter that such action would be childish and petulant nonsense, we need to take a position on this. Attack the ordinary fans!

Instead of stopping fans taking in sandwiches, maybe Spurs might better focus their commercial attention on stopping their catering staff offering to supply half price beer for cash ( guess where the cash went!).

I said about the sarnies to my brother who went and he said that they give you the chance to wait outside and eat them if you wish as the bag check is some way before the actual ticket entrance. Perhaps it was too early in the day to do that. He also said in his opinion it is the only ground in The Premier better than the Amex for eating and drinking etc.

!

I do hope you returned the gentlemanly behaviour extended to you by politely commenting on the fact that he enjoyed the game at the AMEX so much he left straight after Connolly’s second on 65’.
