It is what it is today. You can moan and groan all day long, things will still be the same, it's the world over. Your better off focusing your energy on how to improve your own situation, whether that's training for a new career or making some extra money and stop listening to stupid politicians who by the way are all doing OK.
Sorry, but that's the dumbest thing I've read on here in a long time. How can politicians represent you (which is, after all, their job) if they do not know how you feel? Protest is vital, ignoring politics/leaving politicians unchecked is incredibly dangerous.

Personally my feeling is in the 80's when we offered wider home ownership there was a genuine strategy to increase house prices and create the perception that we were all getting wealthier, and, misguidedly, I think we all still feel that in a way. "House prices are going up" .. seen as good news IF you're on the ladder, "Nothing better than bricks & mortar" etc etc.

The strategy would work IF the houses weren't sold at such huge discounts, if the money raised had gone directly back to building more houses and we hadn't fuelled the house prices with the buy-to-let gold rush!

Selling the housing stock was the Tory equivalent of Gordon Brown selling our gold!

A way to make quick money, to either plug gaps in the figures, buy off voters with tax cuts, or to fund other schemes, or a combination of all 3. Look where they have left us...

housing stock didn't get reduced by being sold to tenants. the problem is not building any additional stock as demand, from population and lifestyles, has changed.

(and Brown's gold sell off is a trite accusation that misses far bigger raid on dividends and the massive cost of welfare he burdened us with)

I covered the housing stock issue in Post 101, so agree on both fronts there.

As for Browns welfare burden, how dare a Labour Chancellor think of the poor and disadvantaged, shame on him!

I'll agree there's a similarity but nowhere near the comprehensive mismanagement, misjudgement and downright incompetence shown by Mr Brown

thats all well and good, the trouble is he didn't properly fund tax credit to tune of £30bn odd a year and rising, where were the tax rises? it was funded on economic growth continuing at a hopeful rate from the mid-00's.

What else are you supposed to do with gold apart from sell it? Fair enough he didn’t sell it at the highest rate but the alternative is so sit back and wait whilst key services struggle without sufficient funding. That, in effect, is placing the fate of social welfare on the roller coaster of the precious metals markets. No sane person would want this. Selling off social housing, at a discount, and not replacing it, was an ideological attack on the needy and vulnerable....something the Tories repeatedly do. This is far worse and much further reaching....as we still can see.

You should be PM. Changing legal title to a house won't house one additional person. There are millions homeless, living in guest houses, crammed into homes with their parents, sleeping on mates sofas. The UK's population has risen massively and the average household size is now lower - we just need to cut some of the red tape and get building to house these people.
