Exactly and the £20.50 is a discounted online fare which has different conditions to one bought at stations. Try booking a cheap ticket on Easyjet or Ryanair and trying to travel on a different day or flight to which you've booked.

the 20.50 is the same price brought in the station, trust me i do it every 2 weeks

Well i can't get the £10thing as my station is actually run by south eastern. I went a little ape shit then. And the station manager came down and so did a btp ofofficer which made me giggle. He told me to not call southern as there just palming me off and to get on the train with the ticket i have now and he thinks the ticket inspector will understand my situation. If he don't buy a new ticket and send the one dated the one15th to southern and to also make a complaint.

Bummer.
I learnt a very expensive lesson before Christmas buying my first ever season ticket from Ashford Int to St Pancras. After investigating the website I read that I can buy my ticket at any South Eastern station and at St Pancras and that cheques are to be made payable to South Eastern Railways or whatever it is called :)
I was given my cheque on the last day at work and I was flying back to Ireland that evening. So there I am st St Pancras in the queue with my cheque and photos waiting in line, I get to the front and I'm told that the cheque needs to be written out to East Midlands Railways who operate St Pancras. I couldn't do it and, worse still, I wasn't flying back until after the price rises on Jan 4th.
This cost me an extra £584 for the year, eek, and not a mistake I will make again in a hurry.

Arrghh. Last week I was renewing my yearly ticket, for the princely sum of £3920. There was absolutely nowhere on the Southern wwebsite that tells you who the cheque should be payable to. It does say they don't take personal cheques, but they do take company cheques. I took a gamble and told my company to make it out to "Southern" and was righ, fortunately.

We do, this doesn't instance isn't covered and the OP is not even dealing with Southern Railways but South Eastern which is a totally different company with policies

Have to concede on that in the light of further information to that effect. Things ain't what they used to be though, back in my day ................
