Not even The Beeching Cuts of the Sixties had this much of an impact in this part of the country. Beggars belief really.

I was going to say this is almost backdoor Beeching. Run the service like it is from next week on reduced services and it will soon become the norm.

Text on southern website hints that delay repay is applicable to the new "and old" timetable. Does that mean you can claim if you're late sure to your regular train being removed in the new timetable???

Rest assured as long as I have a hole in my arse there is no way they will be able to run the timetable. There will still be delays/cancellations.

How often do guards check EVERY DOOR @ EVERY STATION? I've never seen it happen.

they dont need to because they have peripheral vision and can hear things. or something. Aslef should encourage memebers to adopt on all DOO services as soon as, then we can see the passenger response and maybe it will accelerate this whole debacle to a conclusion.

For the second time in a week someone collapsed on my heaving train at London Bridge this morning. Because of yet another problem loads of trains were delayed and cancelled leading to massive overcrowding on those that were running.

You wouldn't keep animals in some of the conditions we have to endure.

Is it going to take a loss of life to bring both sides in this pathetic dispute to their senses?

I'm serious.....

I agree. Think they are trying to close the Seaford to Lewes line

totally agree here + do away with small stations like Aldrington, London Road, Fishersgate etc.

they want us all to have plastic cards, but send those stupid vouchers that you can only use by queueing at the ticket office with all the other delayed passengers. what really pisses me off is they still make those f-ing announcements .... 'we look forward to you travelling with us again'

i wish i didn't have too

Went to Brighton Stn this morning to get the 05.10 Thameslink to London.
Checked the National Rail app at 04.50 which said it was running ( you can see where this is going !! )

Arrived at station , train cancelled due to crew shortage ie the driver ( who was probably welsh and still drowning his sorrow's )

So went for the Victoria train instead...then low and behold , driver turns up and takes the EMPTY Thameslink train up the line, leaving before my train !

After 37 years of commuting going from the slam doors, individual carriages ,guard's vans , Aslef , more strikes than you can shake a stick at , above inflation ticket increases , crap new trains that had the leg room for a midget ....my contempt of them has finally reached the limit.

GTR need to be stripped of the Coastway East and Coastway West lines as a matter of urgency. GTR seem to consider these lines as disposable nice-to-haves rather than the lifeblood of much of East Sussex and West Sussex respectively. Award those lines to a franchise (or franchises) who would focus on the lines as their core business and treat their customers accordingly.

Yep sadly that's the way of the world , it takes a disaster before this human trait of profit matters more than anything else madness strikes again , and it will .

This with bells on. It's irritating enough for Brighton Mainline users but the coastway passengers have been treated like dirt, the Seaford bus replacement the clearest example of the contempt with which they view these lines.

it has occured to me that the problems on west coast may be down to higher staff impacts, for any and all of the many reasons. east coast has not been as heavily impacted it seems to i believe there is something specific to west side.

OK, so I need to get a train from Shoreham to Newhaven this evening. What are the chances that the services shown as cancelled are the ones that are cancelled?

Can't think that there's very much specific to the Coastway West service that would prevent trains trundling up and down the line between Brighton and Pompey all day every day. Fair enough, there's a huge number of stations between the two, but wouldn't have thought that would have much of an impact other than to make the trains pretty sluggish in getting from A to B. Coastway East branches put together probably have a roughly similar number of stations. In both cases, they are the lifeblood of the communities they are nominally supposed to serve.
