It'll be a very interesting day tomorrow, among other things, as to what 'service' there is on the Southern network as a whole and what level of match-day 'service' is advised and what level occurs.

I'm pleased I wont be using the train tomorrow, good luck to those that are.

I've been led to believe that there are hundreds of trains expected to be without drivers tomorrow , at the moment they don't know if anyone will be working overtime or not . As for the football trains the only way they will run will be like the Fulham game when the crew are removed off of other services to run the Brighton - Lewes shuttles, even then nobody knows now what it will be like especially after the game

Not true. The rail staff just don't want to accept ANY responsibility for this chaos when in fact it is entirely down to them. You can bleat all you like, the public know the truth and are pissed right off with these childish strikes and whining.

With salaries ranging from 22k to 38k starting , 5% rises ,ten rest days every 6 weeks, commission on ticket sales, final salary pension. All for sticking their noggin out a door and watching everyone doing what they are perfectly capable of doing themselves. Far too good for far too long, not surprised they're concerned the gravy train is over. Make no mistake, rail staff are all aboard the gravy train with SASTA. Playing the poor victim butters no parsnips with me.

I've said multiple times on this thread, there's no fundamental reason a train can operate without a guard or a driver, and the responses I get are just so closed minded and backward looking. We've got driverless cars being road tested, the tech in that is much more complex than a train. Yet people just don't get it.

Maybe it's symptomatic of an industry that's still in a nationalised mindset, no need to improve our innovate when we've got the franchise for five years, no need to think beyond five years.

I live in Newhaven, where we had 75% of all our trains removed from May to November, reinstalled for a few weeks, and now removed again, and not ONE of the cancellations was down to strike action.

I know the truth and am thoroughly peed off with Southern. Profits before customers and workers.

Yep! Posters up at Victoria giving advance warnings of a scratch service and advising not to travel in peak times...

Also Thameslink are pulling stunts like cancelling morning trains (6 57 camx yesterday and today and the 7.22 on days when you need them)

I think we can make an educated guess. It will be a complete shambles.

I'm sure SASTA are massively to blame. I'm not suggesting otherwise. However, the train staff are very much to blame too.

Thameslink trains have been useless in the mornings for the last few weeks. Don't have any data but cancellation of early services seems to be more frequent.

Platform staff. Or the hundreds of on-board supervisors SASTA have just hired to replace the whinging guards. Very simple. They manage in many other parts of Europe.

There are many stations in the SE that haven't got platform staff. SASTA are also closing all the ticket offices.
