AB gone for 0... giving catching practice to Root at 2nd slip... a wicket for Stuart Broad
238-3
238-3
Now for Jimmy to show AB that there is nothing wrong with his bowling.
I am SURE I just heard GOSBTS from the Barmy Army
Umpires call, i really dont get it. Ball would have hit the stump so should be given as out.
Really bloody winds me up this "umpires call" thing.
The umpire made a decision that England felt was wrong, so they reviewed it. The review proves the umpire got it wrong, but because it was marginal, the wrong decision is not overturned. Ridiculous.
It is clearly not ridiculous. The umpire was quite reasonably in some doubt about giving it out LBW, and his view was confirmed by the replay.
The reviews are there to eliminate howlers, and that was not one, it was a good decision by Kumar Dharmasena.
If anything is ridiculous, it is England wasting a review when it was quite clearly not going to be overturned.

I get what you are saying, and I agree with you to a certain extent, especially as to Englands decision to review it as I too thought it was going down the leg side.
However, lets say for arguments sake the umpire had given the decision as out and the batsman had reviewed it. The review would have shown the exact same thing, but because the umpire had given it out, it would have stayed out. Umpires can't have it both ways. The review process showed that the ball was going to hit leg stump, albeit only just, and if the ball was going to hit leg stump, the batsman is out, irrespective of whether the umpire gave it as out or not.
