Linkin Park - Crawling. This is a very special song for me, not only did it introduce me to Linkin Park, but at the time I was in a very dark place, homeless, addicted to drugs, only saw my life going one way. This song spoke to me, it described exactly how I was feeling, lost, insecure, fragile, hopeless, but one line in particular really stuck with me, "Against my will I stand beside my own reflection", I hated who I was and this opened my eyes and stuck with me throughout my recovery and rebuilding my life.
22yrs later, drug free for 22yrs, lovely home with a beautiful girlfriend, decent job, just passed my driving test, all thanks to a kick up the arse from a random song I heard. Thank you Linkin Park.

Seeing Midge again next month in a small club in Toronto (the iconic El Mocambo). It's going to be a weird evening. Seeing him in one room, then when he's finished, it is off to another room to see ABC (never was a big fan but we'll see). Separate concerts on separate stages in one venue on one evening. Bit like a micro festival I suppose. And seeing China Crisis there ten days before that. Going on a nostalgia trip - late midlife (china) crisis?

Wow, that sound like a good schedule, I’m just a tad jealous - ABC were very underrated, hopefully they have aged well.

Have to admit I didn’t know China Crisis were still around, you will have to let us know what they’re like now! Which brings us neatly to this...

He’s playing Las Vegas next week, I might go. Probably a lot has changed since the ‘I’m Your Man’ tour.

That was part of te genius of Joe Jackson - a lot changed with every tour (and pretty much every album too). New band, some new songs, and a radical re-working of some of his classics. I couldn't find them all in a hurry on Youtube, but the various versions of Stepping Out (the versions on Night and Day and The Big World for example) are wondrous to behold.

I saw them upstairs at the O2 islington about ten years ago doing a mix of old and new songs. They were excellent.

That's extraordinary.

And some cultures ban music :wrong:

I love the music threads on NSC.
