[Albion] Something HAS to be done about the home atmosphere

Because away from home you only ever see the same faces. Bournemouth was a cracking atmosphere because it was 1,000 of us who all bleed blue & white. 90% of the home attendances are people who see the Albion as a day out to see the Premier League.
Maybe you'd like me to give up my season ticket to a proper fan FFS!

Now I know my earlier post was totally justified and should be squarely aimed at people like you with such a crap attitude. My " day out " has been running for quite a few years thanks including the Goldstone, Gillingham and getting soaked at Withdean. And I might add plenty of away days all round the country.

Bent on TS along with Goldstein saying how good (and loud) they thought the atmosphere was on Friday night
Likewise at the "noisy away support" quoted at Bournemouth despite what, 1500 or whatever the away allocation is. Thought the 2nd half was as good as it gets against City and not surprising in context of who they are. It depends entirely on how the team are performing and any unjust decisions that gets the crowd going in most arenas around the country.

Think youve had a nibble here mate. Good for you that you’ve been to the Goldstone!

Wasn’t that 3 hours before kick off or something? They didn’t even stay for the game. My mate who works in the East lounges escorted them off site 45 mins before kick off.

There ARE some things that could be done to improve it though. If the two ends of the North actually managed to sing the same song together it would be loud. But their inability (unwillingness?) to do it is a massive part of the problem. If those two groups were in the middle of the North it would be so much better.
We're starting to get the same problem away. Happened at Bournemouth the other weekend. Despite the small number of blocks, there were different songs and/or the same songs starting at different times from either side.

Have noticed this, normally because despite singing a song for a player all day, someone decides they have a better song for said player, and starts singing that. All a bit odd, Bournemouth I didn’t notice that too much though mind.

On the home atmosphere in general, the elsewhere in the stadium I don’t expect people to be jumping around all the time, but in the North a lot of people are there because it’s the “North” and expect people to make the noise for them, despite not at any point contributing to the atmosphere themselves. I think 90% is an over exaggeration, but large amounts of the crowd are there for a day out. The leaving early is getting embarrassing now, if it was only a few, and people always have their reasons, or even when we’re 4-0 down, but it’s large swathes of the stadium when we’re pushing for a winner, it’s not exactly inspiring is it for the players is it?. On a midweek I get it, but on a Friday and a Saturday I don’t get it. Ultimately a proportion of the support, watching Brighton isn’t that important. I think I saw someone refer to it elsewhere, but the amount of people who find an excuse not to attend the game, it never used to be like that. When we were all walking through Hove dressed like Klansmen to the Withdean, people weren’t going, yeah bin it off I’ll watch on TV, especially when we were at a chance of going second in the league. Some people on here manage to drive from all parts of the country to the game for every home game, so it’s not like it’s impossible to get here.

At a Club like Leeds (which is an absolute Ball Ache to get away from) or Sheffield United when they’re winning or the game is close 90% stay. I think there is a danger that our way support is becoming a bit passive, with plenty having season tickets “to watch premier league football” or “watch Europa League Football” that hasn’t materialised, give it 5-10 or so years when people who’ve grown up supporting us regularly, and only us, the atmosphere will improve.

On a different tip, has anyone looked at the correlation between the pre-match light (shite) show and poor atmosphere/performances/results?
Yeah bin it off it’s a waste of time, Pyros on the otherside fine, but this light show bollocks is a load of shite. I can’t think of any person has ever asked for it, at any club up and down the country.

IMO put the away fans right next to the north stand ..have no pre match experience but get us to sing…”you’re never make the station”to them…..that should liven things up !!!

This is a mental take. The club had 22,000 season ticket holders in 13/14. That's 80% of the current home capacity. Have we somehow lost 19,000 season ticket holding fans in the process of getting promoted to the Premier League and seen them be replaced by tourists?

I’m not sure whether you’re on a wind up or not. If not then your post smacks of arrogance. Of course the 1,000 of us at Bournemouth (including me!) bleed blue and white, and yes, they tend to be the same faces but that should not detract from those that attend every home match and not travel away. We are all equally as loyal and love the Albion. Maybe you need to delete the sentence about 90% of the home attendance see the Albion as a day out to see the Premier League. For starters we’re in the Premier League playing Premier League opponents so your comment doesn’t hold water on that basis. Secondly, the home attendance, less the away support of 3,000, will be near on 29,000 of which the vast majority will be season ticket holders and the remainder Albion + members. That means a lot of financial commitment from those fans. Do not belittle their dedication to the cause. We are all fans of the Albion and we all deserve respect.

I think the individual saying 90% is an over exaggeration, but the broader point that a lot of people are there for a day trip and are quite passive I don't think is entirely unfair.

It's unlikely that 15000+ season ticket holders have paid £300+ for "a day out." I go to occasional away games because I have other commitments but all home games. It is unrealistic to expect all home fans to be fanatics and 90 min singers.

I think a lot doesn't necessarily mean 15000+, if they're only paying £300+ for season tickets can they tell me where they seat so I can also.
