Out of interest, how well did the Cucurella chant come across, hopefully loud enough for an apology!

All I cold hear in relation to him was boo-ing.

There’s a chap in the North who bangs the back wall to drive some of the chants. I’ve not yet worked out how this is apparently different to having a drum.

I’m sure you could do something with the acoustics of the north, Royal Albert Hall style. And remove the roof above the away fans.

This is the issue, isn't it.

We're not the only club that suffers from this, but we're nowhere near the best at overcoming it either.

When the atmosphere falls flat after uninspiring events on the pitch, it quite clearly affects the level of performance from the players.

If we were the type of fans that could generate an atmosphere constantly and spontaneously, it would certainly result in more success on the pitch.

Oddly I think the way we play can have an adverse effect too. It's very methodical and often a bit slow. Doesn't make for a blood and thunder atmos...

The noise really ratched up in added time. For once we were not methodical and slow. Hence the goal?

Another of the thoughts I’ve posted on here before, I wonder if the seats in the North being cheaper means people looking to get a season ticket have opted for the cheap option, but only being recently match going fans they aren’t natural singers. Maybe we need to look at creating a cheaper area (e.g. SW corner) to draw that traffic away from the North?

Firstly, on a personal level. I ain’t moving, I’ve been in that seat since the start and I’ll be the East Stands version of that stubborn bastard that wouldn’t sell his house to make way for a motorway thus bollocking up the whole project.

Secondly, do you seriously think that would generate more noise from the home support? It would merely increase the atmosphere of vocal away fans I.e Leeds, Forest, Newcastle. Palace even. Let’s face it, on a decibel level we’d get slaughtered.

Finally, the North Stand is not the centre of the universe, in the past many supporters groups have moved their singing areas, there is nothing to stop a group moving into the SWC to shake things up.

Allow bottle tops. Allow flasks. Allow people to pass on tickets to friends/family without having their season tickets confiscated, and without having to pay for the 'privilege'?

True. But on Palace Day there will be coked up Herberts everywhere. And on every other day there will be gobshite away supporters in the home seats.

This should happen in two parts, both connected.

Firstly, fans currently in the NS should take a singing test, however long they might have supported the club or been resident in the North.

Secondly, any wannabees should undertake an 'X-Factor' style assessment, success based on clarity and volume.

I concede this may not fit with the family friendly vibe that the club's going for. Although it's arguably more family friendly than my previous idea of threatening to shoot the first person who stops singing.

My idea isn’t quite so attractive ..but Cucurella to play for every opposition team when playing at The Amex…..and Salisbury to ref every game ………hmm…maybe stick to the strippers.

When we beat Wolves 6-0 last season it was a truly awful atmosphere, probably the worst of the season. We've been watching the best football played by our club in it's history over the last 2 seasons yet the home atmosphere has been largely dogshit.

I'm probably the only one but I thought last night, given the reduced attendance, was actually decent. Really don't get these people that get a bee in their bonnet about home atmosphere.
