[Albion] Something HAS to be done about the home atmosphere

Sidwell, in today’s online Argus says that the play off second leg against Wednesday was the best atmosphere he’d ever played in front of and he played for some much bigger club than us.
:lolol: . Give me fugging strength! We need a 'The Sheffield Wednesday Atmosphere' commemorative plaque or wall constructed next to the fanzone. It could be like the Vietnam wall in Washington DC, the names of those in attendance etched on it alongside quotes from David Blunkett, Sidwell and Nelson Mandela etc.

Embarrassing that it's STILL being mentioned years after the event in 2016...8 years ago.

This, we're starting to get mocked by other teams by how quiet our fans are home and away.
I don't know if there's a word or phrase that adequately conveys how little I care about the opinions of other fanbases.

The best I can come up with is that it's like that bit in Friends where Joey has misheard 'moot point' as 'moo point' and he's squared that away in his head by saying "it's a moo point, it's a cows opinion, it don't matter".

But even that is giving it too much thought.

This, we're starting to get mocked by other teams by how quiet our fans are home and away. We sound loud because we're next to each other, but we really don't make that much noise, nor do we have a large selection of songs anymore.

Absolute rubbish- our home support is no better/worse than most grounds across the country (which all could be much better) - you hear those songs sung all the time on telly by away fans - and our away support is brilliant vast majority of the time.

And you also threw in the myth that we don't have a large selection of songs - we do have quite a large range of songs that are sung regularly imo.

Albion song
GOSBTS
Tony blooms blue n white army
Sussex by the sea ola ola
We are brighton from the south
...na na na, we all follow bri'on hove albion
Then all the player songs (admittedly a couple of players and fabian still missing one)
Europe again ole ole (this season)

There's others I've forgotten/not heard in a while, but those with the player songs too is not a limited range of chants - far more I think compared to a lot of clubs who really do only seem to have a few (palace with the fecking woooaaa woooo shit), Everton, spurs, etc

Are you going to tell Sidwell to shut the f*** up because he’s embarrassing you then?

The atmosphere against City was brilliant likewise the comeback win against spurs. Atmosphere depends on many factors including how the team are playing, who there're playing and situations in the game. Unjust decisions/bookings/red cards etc all play a part. Away atmosphere is pretty good especially if we're doing the business on the pitch. Think Villa Newcastle and them lot up the road have the best atmospheres as well as Anfield getting behind their team.

I'm yet to hear a decent atmosphere at Newcastle and Anfield when little old brighton roll into town. Get louder when they're doing well on the pitch but for the most part pretty shyte

Thought the atmosphere was poor v Southampton, considering we could have gone second. Also, surprised to see masses of empty seats. One of the West Lower sections towards the north must have been only two thirds full.

It was only the back two rows of North putting in any effort on Friday. Safe standing won't make a blind bit of difference

We did go second. It's utterly bizarre that, despite that, I felt really disappointed.
Its not bizarre. We have seven months left of the season. The league table doesn't mean shit however much we want it to.
It will look different in May.

The game against Southampton means something and we didn't win.
It will still have finished 1-1 come May.

In the battle of real disappointment vs imaginary consolation, the former will often draw the longest straw.

Can we throw in some unqualified view that it’s the acoustics, despite the north and south stand being of similar size and constructed with the same materials.

OK Swanny. It's not remotely bizarre that we went second in the PL -- because that happens all the time -- and it's also not remotely bizarre that many of us were disappointed.

So essentially we can only generate an atmosphere when dominating the top 6 and maybe when we're playing Palace. Anyone else or if we're not on top against the big teams and it's a flipping morgue. Are people really satisfied with that as a conclusion?

Until you are fully invested and have seen disappointments like the Saints game a few times you’ll not “get” the disappointment

The atmosphere against City was brilliant
First half it was appalling
likewise the comeback win against spurs.
see above

like having the chance to go 2nd and be in probably the strongest position ever at this stage of a season?
Unjust decisions/bookings/red cards etc all play a part.
Bad refs lift the crowd like nothing else for some reason. It's like some primal instinct that has survived the sanitisation of the epl

Away atmosphere has been very hit and miss the last couple of seasons.

This. Fact is, most Albion fans knew that the Albion would fluff their lines against bottom of the table team(s). It's the Albion way, only made tolerable by some stunning results against team(s) at top of the table
