Brighton / Hove actually
KLL CERTAINLY DID NOT LOOK "AT IT"
against CRAWLEY

I do find it odd that we never hear of any rumours of interest in him from other clubs. He might be inconsistent but he is not a bad player. Just his start to last season I would have thought might raise some interest, and if we stitch all his best bits on a promotional video of him he looks very good.

It's not as though he has a reputation for a bad attitude that could put clubs off being interested in him, and he would be a good addition to any Championship side.

I think there is a degree of distancing myself as I am very unsure Stephens will be in the stripes come August. And maybe I big up Sidwell a little because he does have vast experience. But I would feel extremely comfortable with a Kayal/Sidwell central midfield.
I think the question with Sidwell is not quality, but doing what Kayal and Stephens did last season didn't only require quality but also high intensity for basically 46 games. Maybe Sidwell's experience would be able to compensate for some of that but I'm not sure he could do what those those two did last season regularly.

Big track record of injury probably has something to do with it.

don't get me wrong I love him, but just one instance yesterday he lost the ball (through a bad pass) and walked away very rejected which is unusual for him
Manu on the other hand battered the goal and eventually got one ................but it was only a friendly

This all comes from an agency called M&Y, based in Portsmouth, who supply the Mirror and others with transfer gossip - hence the fact that Stains are the only club ever linked with him. They don't operate beyond the south coast. I've had a word with the writer in question but they only get money when they get something in the paper so they don't care if it's true or not. And it's easier to recycle an old made-up story rather than make up a new one.

Not as good as Knockaert or Skalak, or on his day Lualua. Unsure how I'd feel if we sold him

Cheers. I did think it was strange that the club were offering a new contract when he still has another two years left.

Bang! And the dirt is gone.
Solly is quick, silky and can finish. Could he not play in the Baldock/Wilson role rather than splashing out for a budget breaking forward with pace? He wouldn't then be competing with Knocky, Skalak, Murphy or Lua Lua. Plus he is still young and has time to adapt his game.

Hmmmm, it appears there may have been a grain of truth in this. The club are in negotiations with Solly, and he did turn down their initial offer.

would get rid if opportunity is beneficial financially.

He has looked untouchable a few times (especially at the start of the season) but this happens far far less often that it should for what we need.

Currently 4th choice winger , 5th if March rediscovers his form.

Surprised he isn't looking to leave to be honest

Not a bad shout, he could fill the Wilson roll as back up to Baldock, who I have a sneaky feeling will come good by improving
his goals tally this season.

Greedy git! No worries about being paid for the majority of last season whilst you were injured!

He's a professional footballer and doing what professional footballers do.

I remember reading that Rio Ferdinand demanded a massive (by the standard of the day) pay rise whilst he was suspended for missing a drugs test. And he got it.

As someone who keeps as close an eye on the club as you do, I'm surprised that you thought it was strange. We've often given improved terms, generally packaged up with a contract extension, to our best players. It helps protect our key assets if nothing else.

Why we'd be renegotiating a contract that runs until 2018, when the player cannot complete more than 15 games a season, is a mystery to me.
