MAy have? Fitness permitting He will have . .Minteh may be quick but Solly has a lot more to his game.
I don't know. If Minteh keeps playing the way he does now, I don't see Solly outcompeting him.

Fantastic to be able to bring in March whenever needed though.

Minteh has scored 8 goals so far one more than March’s best ever season, he’s a little bit more than just ‘quick’.
He’s been assisting and his defensive work has been outstanding of late.
Of course March has way more experience under his belt yet I don’t think he’s starting ahead of Minteh any time soon.

Since his recovery he's played one under 21's match, a 10-0 win over Palace. And played a total of 73 minutes of first team football, scoring 1 goal and creating 1 assist.

Yeah this.

I'm one of Solly's biggest fans, but even I will concede, that for now, he's an option off the bench, not a starter.

Hmm. Interesting debate. Who would start out of a fully fit Solly and Minteh? Very different skillset.

Minteh is a brilliant team player, full of goals and makes things happen, lightening quick, raw, but terrifies defences.

Solly, intelligent, calm, the better crosser, again a brilliant team player.

My instinct is that we would go horses for courses and that they would be sharing the short to some degree. In a one off. Just, just I reckon Yankuba would get the nod. Just

I don't think Minteh should be playing every game at his age. We did that with Adingra last year and not sure good for him in the long run

It's a squad game and Minteh gets through a hell of a lot of work.
The odd start coming for Solly but a lot of 20 minute appearances as sub.
Though thinking about it I pity any wide players who've spent an hour tracking March up and down seeing Yankuba have a warm up.

I'd go just in the other direction if we're talking March at his peak. Minteh definitely would need a lot of starts and minutes to keep improving, but think a lot of our attacks break down with him because of a bad touch, being off balance and running down a blind alley.

March goes past players for fun even thought he isn't as quick and his extra quality would ad a lot to this team. Hoping he gets back to somewhere near his old self.

Whisper quietly that Gruda could be the perfect hybrid between Minteh and a post injury March.

I think he'll start nearly every game we have left of the season. Optimal for him? Maybe not, just like it maybe wasn't optimal to play Caicedo in nearly every game in 22/23. But just like in that season we sort of can't think much about that right now.

Strongest possible team every game that we have left. And that certainly includes Minteh in one role or another... the ability to repeatedly being able to sprint like that is world class stuff and now when he's worked out the tempo and tactical stuff... what he's shown in the last month makes him walk into EVERY PL team (maybe not Liverpool).

We simply can not opt out of that when we're so close to achieving amazing things.

That run and ball across the 6 yard box removed any doubt from my mind about his ability at this level still
Yep - vintage Solly March move. Subtle drop of the shoulder and he’s beyond the full back, without seeming to have done anything.

Helps that he was up against Targett, mind, who has no place being in a Newcastle team in 2025.
