[Albion] Solly March, local lad and Premier League star, is f***ing brilliant

Given the injury he has, the fact it wasn't the first time and the fact we've had some recent negative experience with a recovery a huge knee injury (Moder) - I really don't think there's any value whatsoever in trying to rush him back. The club will take their time with Solly and if he's ready to play a role from January that would be excellent - but he shouldn't be overloaded and he shouldn't be considered important to the squad - he should be a luxury to use when he's ready and there's a space in the squad.

I think, unfortunately, his playing career could be coming to an end.
Nice of the board to stick with him through his career and at least make sure he is well, or nearly.

I’m afraid I’m inclined to agree with you. The club has a moral, and possibly contractual, obligation to do as much as possible to help him recover, but at 30 years old and after such a long time out it seems hard to imagine him getting back to anything like the level he was pre injury.

He’s contracted until the end of next season, so who knows?

Even if he doesn't play at all this season, it's right that we continue to work with him and get him fit. Whether that fitness is enough to be a Premier League footballer, or a footballer of any kind, doesn't really matter too much. What matters is the man and helping to make sure he's fit and healthy (mentally and physically). He's had a number of really serious injuries whilst playing for us and there is a duty of care we know the club takes seriously.

Any news on Solly? Was hearing he might be in contention a while ago but nothing and no sight of him for us or the U21s that I’ve seen

So’s Jacob Slater who was a debut bench warmer on Friday, so not sure that’s an indication of how likely Solly will be making an appearance any time soon

He’s going to be getting all sorts of minor muscle adjustment issues after (2!) major knee surgeries to repair his ACL and meniscus - so two steps forward, one step back.

It’s good though he’s back training on grass following the setback after the U21 Palace game a few months ago.

I admire his tenacity and focus to keep working to get back on the pitch after so much time out - especially when he can see the main squad continuously improving - it can’t be easy.

Keep at it Solly 👍

He played 20 odd mins in an U21 game a couple of months ago. Was the 10-0 game V those lot as far as I can recall.

Surely Solly is going to have a challenge in his hands getting back into the matchday squad? So much time out and so many new players doing well.

We could‘ve done with his experience, cool head and precision second half Friday. Minteh, Adingra etc … tensed up, all a bit frantic, poor decision making.

The truth is none of us knows what's happening or what the prognosis is. There may be some good news in the coming months and maybe Solly will once again be one of the first names of the team sheet, in time.

I hope so because before this injury there was talk of an England call-up and a role at the Euros. He's been cheated out of that.

My suspicion with Solly is that he will be back and will once again be a first team regular, sometimes on the wing, sometimes, he might fill in at full back.

But none of this will be quick. We may not even get a number of starts this season, but i'm confident we'll get some spirit lifting cameos. I'm looking at what we get this season as a bonus personally. Moder was about a year and half and was still being very heavily managed after that

I wish him all the very best, but coming back from one ACL is hard enough. My fingers are crossed for him.

I wonder if he'll come back in a slightly different role given his injury and what his body now can and can't do?

Without wanting to be too facetious, possibly the Lallana role?

Getting himself fit enough to be considered is the challenge. A fully fit Solly March walks into that squad, despite the level of competition.
