Depends how you look at it. 5 games are played before the window shuts. Stakes are high in the prem and weakness is exposed. With 2 strikers that puts us at a disadvantage from the word go , not to mention what a tight rope we would be walking. Even when we had Glenn we could bring on a threat to change the game.
Hopefully adding Llanna means we will have additional goals in the side so you are right and we can get through the first 5 without too many worries.

I'm not worried and I'm sure the club are on it but I would argue we do desperately need at least 1 more striker for the first game.

Agree on your other points

There is an additional window available for arranging loans from PL clubs to EL clubs, so from OUR perspective there was no urgency to complete Murray's move to Watford.

The fact we have allowed Glenn to go now, rather than hold on to him until the end of the window, as a back-up option, makes me absolutely confident that the club has plans in place to fill the gap very quickly.

I'd be happy if we signed Gonzalez and Andersson. That pair must be within budget, but Andersson's release clause only has 2 days left.

We cannot and must not go into the season with just two strikers. Its asking for trouble. I could live without a LB although I think we need one but a striker is essential and with Murray going I just cannot see the club not having someone lined up.

But by the same token Murray played something like 75 minutes since the return of football.
It seems rather pointless keeping him around as 'back up' if he's still not going to be used.

Ali J already owns that position in the squad.

Chill out people. I'm sure the next Mark Farrington is out there somewhere and I have every confidence that our recruitment team will find him.

How many threads, over how many transfer windows, have we spent wittering about the fabled new striker? I am in the camp that says Brighton do not sign strikers, and that Potter will come up with some new strategy for putting the ball in the net.

The one time we signed somebody who looked the part, he turned out to be a nutter (allegedly).

Well we bought Maupay last season...

We have someone lined up. Even by our usual standards we’re exceptionally short of numbers up front now. A deal has been done.

It's funny to read Albion fans discussing a new striker.

We've been so beaten down by the (non) process some, sure only the myopic unable to think ones, are even happy to get Chris Woods - and even they are going to be disappointed. :lolol:

If my memory serves me right, our defence has generally struggled against Woods in PL League. Tried and tested at this level. The short sightedness is to think Burnley would dare sell him.

Thank God he worked out and didn't get injured, being as we sent two others out on loan. What a signing though. Although he is a very different player it's great to have someone with the confidence and niggly know-how of the departed Legend Murray leading our line.

Neither Maupay nor Connolly picked up injuries/suspensions though during those games. We aren't going to leave ourselves exposed until January imvho.

Of course but I don't think that's Murray dependant.

It just seems rather unlikely that should there have been an injury Murray would have been the automatic starting striker.

I think that it is Murray dependant personally because it's him or who, Gyokeres? He would certainly have been on the bench in your scenario. Also, two injuries is not a million to one chance is it. You can have evens with me that we don't sign a striker if you want it.

Jurgen Klopp has said he will make a decision on whether or not to allow Brewster to go out on loan after this round of international matches.

If he decides to keep him, I cant see Divock Origi hanging around. Origi has sat out Liverpool's preseason fixtures with an unspecified issue.

Their reluctance to elaborate on the issue sounds like an excuse and they don't want to jeopardise a potential transfer.

Out of a loan for Brewster or buying Origi outright, I'd far rather we went for Origi.

Agreed, Origi would be an amazing signing.

Yes, there is that. But is he really a number 9, tall, quick, brick shithouse kind of forward, the like of which NSC has been pining for? He is not.

Not many teams are starting tall forwards these days. Even fewer tall AND quick ones. Maupay is a modern number 9.

I think that it is Murray dependant personally because it's him or who, Gyokeres? He would certainly have been on the bench in your scenario. Also, two injuries is not a million to one chance is it. You can have evens with me that we don't sign a striker if you want it.

If Maupay & Connolly got injured I think Trossard would have been the most likely option for the CF role. Obviously Murray would probably have played more with these out, but I doubt he would have started much.
