So Gus asked to leave the club in March!

I see the Bloom brown nosers are out in force again.

I thought the first thing all BHA fans learnt from bitter experience was to never trust the owner.

I don't remember another owner stumping up £120 million quid to build a stadium before, I remember one payed £56.24 for the entire club once though.

Yeah, because what's he ever done for us???

And here is the first time I have ever agreed with kevtherev.

Given the quality and profile of The Amex (and the difficulty in getting planning permission) there is literally no reason Bloom would stitch us up. He is a very successful gambler and business man though and he needs to get something out of this. I have no doubt he wants to see us as Premier League regulars and maybe cup specialists a la Swansea. Maybe even European football in a few years, all done with style.

I'm still yet to be convinced of the quality of one particular individual he's employed to achieve this however. It seems we may have missed out on the chance of £2.5m compo or so while introducing happy clackers, complicated legal processes, dubious new caterers, complicated membership and cash back schemes and double charging for travel instead.

All credit to Bloom for giving us a snippet of the truth would be nice to know more.

If I was Bloom I would have accepted Gus's offer at the time, that said credit to Gus and the playing staff as our end of season run in was fantastic just ruined by one game. I wasn't Gus' greatest fan but I don't get this he didn't try line, surely it would look better on your CV to have Brighton promoted then the wheels fell off after I resigned and then I gave up.

I really don't understand why Bloom didn't let Gus go, it can't just be the compensation due on the remainder of his contract.

And last, I moaned and moaned when Gus never signed another striker during the window when Barnes was suspended, CMS and Hoskins injured and Dobbie loaned out and we only had Ulloa, was Gus distracted by third party interest or did the board not give Gus the funds as they knew he was on his way out.

Time to move on for all parties.

Credit to the guy who actually asked the question and dared to go where no one dared to !! Dont believe many people were expecting a reply like that, myself included.

Coincidence that when Gus told TB that he wanted to leave, we were in a poor patch - but after that we went unbeaten for the rest of the season !! If Gus wanted out then we seriously made the right decision in getting rid of him and bringing in a man that wants to be here and is saying all the right things !!

I wish our fans wouldn't tweet Diego Poyet about this. Leave the kid alone, its nothing to do with him.

Very much this.

Frankly I'd forgotten the comments Gus made about how much he'd loved Leeds, And could see himself back there one day, I thought it was a bit disrespectful to BHA at the time. I am entirely of the opinion he never ever saw us as anything other than a rung on his managerial ladder.
Very much this...at onetime Gus was doing a great job...but was trying to tout himself to other clubs really put him down in the respect stakes.
I have no fear of TB selling the club down the Swannee...used to see him at the Goldstone when he was a young lad...he has the club in his heart and is probably a bigger fan of BHA than most on this board...

Apologies if wrong, but when Gus declined the Reading Job, was he not signed to an improved contract at Brighton. How does that fit into the scheme of things?

If the last few months have shown anything I think it's shown our chairman is no walkover and he is Brighton though and though. Which is more than can be said for all the Poyet arse lickers.

Because people have a different view it does not make them any less of a supporter. Or any less appreciative of Tony Bloom.

Gus played the worst possible tactics against Palace in both games. It was his fault we never went to Wembley, and I will never forgive him for it.

Absolutely. The last straw was sending on Ashley Barnes with specific instructions to hit the ball against the top of Speroni's arm so that it came back off the crossbar and then make sure he put a header from a corner close enough to their left back for him to nod it off the goalline.

Tony Bloom' s comment this evening seems to me to throw very little light on what happened. There is speculation that Poyet saw another job looming, but no confirmation that this was in fact the case. That's not the only reason people leave a job. Sometimes it's a breakdown in internal working relationships. But to suggest that is to invite further speculation. I find it odd (and not very helpful) that we are being drip fed little snippets of information.

Lua lua was one of our best players in the Palace home match and was one of the reasons why Bridge had Zaha in his pocket.

I am totally baffled, when Kaz had hit form, he was not played from the start in the 2nd leg, especially when Buckleys form has been poor most of the second half of the season.

THAT'S why Poyet is to blame for us losing...oh and wasn't Barnes, a player in goalscoring form, on the bench?
