He is not going to Port Vale on £25k a week. To quote the BBC story.....The managerless Valiants have contacted the Rams about a possible deal but it is thought they cannot afford to pay their part of his £25,000-a-week wages.

Can't you people read?

The same one as has said he is an ardent Port Vale supporter and has given them money in the past and who was supposed to have had a house in Scaynes Hill and was seen at Withdean and rumoured to be interested in buying us, a couple of years ago. This turned out to be another Robbie, Robbie Raggio (sp) who is a BHA supporter

According to the Derby newspaper, he is either coming to us to play or go to Wrexham where he will get more involved in the coaching side. I am beginning to think it might happen (probably means it won't).

Robbie Williams had a place near Kirdford a few years back and started helping with training the local kids football team. They thought it was brilliant, then one of the parents thought it would be really clever to get on to the tabloids. They set up camp outside RW's place so he moved on. Shame really.

There was a story in the paper today that he is joining Dean Saunders as a player coach at Wrexham

I would have thought he would end up at Crewe but if Wrexham have come in I can see him going there. He gave them a load of cash when they were having problems with their ground and used to stand on the terraces as a kid.

It is not like he needs the money is it? He rolled up to training in a new Bentley about a month ago.

Just cannot see him uprooting and moving to the South Coast at this stage of his career unless it was a long-term deal.

wherever he goes, it's pretty clear he's not too thrilled at the prospect of joining us

I am told the normal agreements on loans are the loanee club pay 50% of the wages, but this can be negotiable.

I would suspect that any club would feel slightly agrieved if they are still footing the bill of £12,500 whilst their player is performing for another club, however I guess they might feel its better than paying the £25,000 a week for a reserve player.

I would presume they would hope to offload him soon, but it still seems strange that we can even consider his wages, especially with our wage structure, you know the one, where we lost previous greedy players !!!

Your attempted jibe in your last sentence is negated by a word in your first - "negotiable".

Your attempted jibe in your last sentence is negated by a word in your first - "negotiable".

But it is a reasonable 'jibe' something that should not be lost on you.

So your view on the following:

a) How much the players club would wish his wages to be subsidided by us, whilst still have to pay a percentage of his wages ?

b) How is Brighton expecting to encourage such a 'high profile' player to the club on his wages without paying a 'small fortune' to strike a deal.

Theres negotiation and negotiation, but your looking at £10,000 minimum to get the deal done, or do you have a negotiation point that makes that unlikely ??

I reckon Derby would settle for 25% of wages paid which is still a serious chunk of money, the benefit would be to put him in the shop window and get him match fit. If he joined Wrexham on a permanent basis they would to negotiate Savages contract, pay him up or let him go. I don't blame Savage for considering his options, he has a young family and all the upheaval makes it complicated. I thing if he did come he would either be an absolute legend or a nightmare but I would certainly take the risk and finally even if we don't get him it gives me a warm feeling knowing we are going for one of the most well known footballers in premiership history
