unfortunately, i am still not convinced by our performances that we will be anything more than mid table

however, if we keep grinding out these results when we dont deserve them then we have a pretty good chance of sneaking the top 6

We seem to be good on the road again this season after a shaky start and we're winning at home. As we've seen our previous promotion seasons (ala Peter Taylor thread yesterday) its the results that matter, and so far they've been good. Seem fairly solid at the back, plenty of options up front. Need someone like O'Callaghan all season though because we need him to thread those passes in to the strikers.

eh? Did we not deserve to win today? Only 1 team showed up and it weren't Luton.

i was thinking more of the hartlepool, bournemouth, northampton victories - and the pretty dire gillingham match of the ones i have seen this season

luton were awful today - but i dont think their injury problems helped

No - the teams to benchmark ourselves against are Swansea, Carlisle, Leeds, Forest and Tranmere and we either have not done enough against them or have not played them.

Top half finish, is a good and realistic target to build upon.

i think with the options we have up front we might just be in with a shout.
i'm actually very optimistic. i know hammond gets stick, some dick in block c was harping on about subbing him, but i thought he had a good game today, he just sits in front on the back 4 and breaks up the play.

the team has a good balance and to be honest the other teams aren't great. we were very very unlucky not to beat swansea and we also gave tranmere/leeds a good game.

good work mr wilkins.

We look good enough for play-offs, but we have to keep hold off George to be anywhere near Automatic Promotion candidates.

I'd say we look good enough for mid-table and we need to keep hold of George to be Play-Off candidates.

Can't see us getting auto-promotion with the likes of Swansea, Forest and Leeds up there.

Were they? I thought it was our worst first 45 mins of the season and they never let up. DC was excellent and put in loads of dangerous balls.

At the end of the day the forwards actually did what they are supposed to but it wasn't as convincing as the scoreline suggests. I think we have done well so far but there is a long way to go this season :albion2::albion2::albion2:

This division really is utter dross. We are a very moderate team, but we're fairly well organised at the back which is generally enough in this league. In terms of performances I think we've been pretty average most of the time, yet we find ourselves just off the playoffs on GD - and thats without a regular goalscorer banging them in for us.

If Forster starts finding the net regularly, this division might just be bad enough for us to scrape into the top 6, which really would be unbelievable.

That's my opinion too.

I'm pleased with how its going at the moment. Would i be right in saying that if we win on tuesday we will equal the amount of home wins this season as what we managed the whole of last?

If we are still in touching distance of the playoffs after the forest home game then i reckon we have got a good second half to the season on our hands, as alot of the games over christmas and new year are winnable.

At the start of the season i would have taken a top 10 (12 the very minumium) as that will show progress and give us an easier tie in the League cup next season.
Also glad that its going well for Wilkins as i did say that in the long term we would be better of to stick with him, and he still has my support.

The main thing for me this season is progress and there was a thing on Football Focus yesterday saying that if teams keep sacking there manager they are just going to go round in circles. So am happy that the 'Wilkins Out' lot are rather quite at the minute.

any paticular reason why you mention most of the teams above us except for the one we baet to prove your point?

Yes we are good enough. As long as Wilkins does not lose his nerve and steer the cautious route, I think we should really go for it. After all, not many are expecting promotion so we have nothing to lose. Attack teams and the crowds will come back.

Looking at last seasons promoted teams, Scunny didn't start too well and Blackpool were way down the league (bottom 4)....until they play us!

It's still wide open for teams to go on a run, we are in that old 'launchpad' position.

It doesn't look hopeful from the Sports Argus article. He seems to have plenty of options.
