I agree wholeheartedly with the comments about FDM made by TCB, I don't think the man gets enough credit for his achievement with the club, he must stay for next season and get the number 1 jersey. A number of attempts to find a better keeper than him have failed and he has continued to up his game to keep his position in the team, testament to his determination and character.

Just one point, if no keeper ever made an error there would be very few goals and football would be a pretty dull game.

I agree with you 100%

We must expect all our players to make mistakes. They are third-tier players and if they made fewer mistakes they would be playing for better teams than us.

FDM comes in for some ridiculous criticism sometimes, as did Hendo. For some reason some people expect goalkeepers to be perfect. FDM get slated for making two mistakes in a game. Even if one agrees that he did, name another player in the team who didn't make two mistakes in the match...or any match?

Some people have expectations far removed from reality.

To be fair Henderson was shit

Kuipers is still a good keeper , not as good as he was but still ok.

There was a time when Kuipers was un replacable but that is no longer the case

I always preferred FDM to Hendo but I can't agree he was shit. He had is weaknesses, as does Michel, but he was a reasonable keeper for our level.

Any keeper is replaceable with someone better (unless it's Petr Cech) but someone better will cost. We would all love to see better players in every position on the pitch but we have to be realistic.

To get back to the original poster, NSC is very much like the old terrace discussions we used to have in the days of the Goldstone, with one huge difference: because people on here have relative anonymity, they can get away with abusing fellow fans without having to meet them face to face.

In fact some of these fellow posters when you do meet them when asked tend to come up with the ...." Oh its all in fun, who takes NSC seriously anyway..." So there you go then...

It's a fair point.

In fact, abusing players on here can - and does - have a detrimental effect on some of the team - really. It shouldn't but it does, it would seem.

You're right it shoudn't, but if it does that's a good enough reason for people not to do it.

Did abusing one of our own players ever have a positive effect on him? I doubt it.

Did abusing an opposition player ever have a negative effect on him? More likely the opposite.

It's just pointless.

I can't agree. This is a FANS message board. We know players come on here and unless they are Ronaldo or Henry they can't expect every post to be positive about their skills and thier value to the team. Whilst I appreciate that pointing out say El abd's distribution is shit and his lack of thought on a football pitch abysmal could be counter productive to his confidence levels if he read it, it wouldn't stop me posting it.

Fans opinions on players vary. Here is a good a place as any to air them as opposed to abuse at Withdean which would be much more detrimental.

Here's My 1st time virginal post -

We can all knock and all have different views on subjects, however I suspect none of us could do any better on the field - due to the fact were not "professional" . In the cold light of day these players could and would expose our weaknesses out as soon as we've put a foot on the pitch. We'd all like to dream and be the local / national hero ( es ).

I think running a football club would be a massive headache due to the Media, Fans and Players demands.

I don't always agree with what DK or DW or some of the players ( come to think of it ) does but, if you had even £ 1m would you put it into a football club for someone to spend and not have any say so whatsoever?. Just look at the Lotto winner who ploughed £ 4m into Livingstone only for the banks to snap it up because he guaranteed the funds. Or even, poor old Luton / Bournemouth who are both in receivership for the same annual wage of a top Premier player. The whole football think is / has become out of kilt with reality. We moan about DK playing " Smoke and Mirrors " but he is a "Professional at work" using his trade to achieve a balancing act. This is a legal commodity in order to keep the club afloat and freshen the squad, I may call it trafficking!

We all would love to see BHA sitting firmly on top of the Premiership, but then we all wake up to see the days of us "Working Class persons" are numbered because the over exposure of our national sport has ruined it and it is becoming increasingly harder to justify the outlay even for League One.

How do we still make it like the past times, when generations of 1 family all spent the day together and went to a live match - its easy if we think - simply pull the SKY lead ( that should pay for 1 match ), get off our arses, meet with your family and go. If you've got kids buy them a BHA shirt and let them believe that in this neck of the Country we all STICK together, no matter what.

Or we could all sit around a box, not get any exercise at all, no fresh air, no interacting with humans, no banter of finally, no life!

I believe our season was over way before Xmas, the best we can wish for is a play off final and lose. We can have a great day out, gain some much needed monies and start a fresh for next season.

Someone once said, The person with the most to say is the person with the least to contribute. Think about it!

Give the players a break, stick with them and watch as the first signs of growth are sown @ Falmer and the surge in interest as the foundations are laid.

On a separate note, (as a season ticket holder ) why don't the club just give the kids free seats.
This will help make families take part, swell the crowd and hopefully, bring back the generations that have / are missing.

If they don't like reading personal criticism, perhaps the players should steer clear of this site and only go on Brightonfans.com ?

If I think a player is shit, I will say so on here. Better that I do it on here than shout it from the stands during a game I'd have thought.

Gatting is SHIT. There, I said it.

Absolutely. It irritates me that some on here, usually those who claim to be "in" with the players, claim that we shouldn't criticise them. Well, this is a board for the FANS, not the players, and if they don't pull their weight then they get criticised. It goes with the job, and if they can't take it, I wholly recommend a career change. To be perfectly honest, I don't think a bit of criticism at the games hurts either so long as it is called for. If you're a player, it's very simple. You either a) play well and win, b) don't come on here, or c) take up knitting.

Could you explain to me why, when Easy says he's justified in criticising players, I think "fair enough" but when you say it, I want to PUNCH you in the FACE?

Ha you devil. I believe HKFC said the same thing to me a few weeks back, albeit only once. Soon you'll both me hanging on my every word, and nodding in complete agreement at everything I type:D

:deludedtosser:

This presumeably being the same dreamworld in which Michel Kuipers is a genetic experiment involving Gordon Banks, Lev Yashin, Dino Zoff and Peter Shilton.

There is no dislike of Kuipers amongst the majority. Opinion wavers between average and excellent. In fact, the more intellectual types such as myself appreciate what a goalkeeping genius he is. Experience, stature, reflex saves, great dominance in the area, superb organisational ability, rounded off with the personality and charysma of a real hero. Seeing him on top form, as he was yesterday, is like seeing a wonder of the modern world. Bar his mediocre kicking, he's a top quality keeper - one we've been VERY lucky to have for all of his career. Sure, there are a few who like to knock everyone and everything, but they're nothing more than a vocal minority. If you want to criticise albion players, and in a few cases I very much do, then there should be about 15 in the queue before King Michel. He will win player of the season, because when the time comes for voting I will personally vote about 1000 times in his favour. Long may the legend reign:bowdown:

Not as good as Henderson though.
