Don't mods have the ability to merge threads? Perhaps we should just politely ask those with the power to do so take a few moments on a saturday merging them. Eventually people will get the message... right?

How about if you don't want to read about Russell Slade don't click on threads that are about Russell Slade, you can stick to such classics as "wot i did when i couldn't go on an internet forum for a few hours".

I think there should be ONE thread on a Saturday evening just titled 'The Manager- Discuss <insert date here>' and then people can write what they want wether its pro or anti Slade and then anyone who doesnt want to hear the drivel about him being sacked doesnt have to read it! Anyone starting a new thread will be banned until the following Saturday when a new thread will be started!

 great idea!

Sometimes there are so many threads with slade in the title and it is the glut of them that is more the issue than the content. And the glut of them is visible without going into the threads themselves.

The Grimsby Telegraph reports that over 60 have applied for the managerial vacancy at Blundell Park. What is interesting is a comment by the club chairman who says that certain names who haven't applied and who would make a shortlist maybe approached in the near future. It is widely known locally that there are several Board members of GTFC who are pro Slade.

Great! Maybe we can get rid and make some money in compensation? :whisky:

The end of the year can't come soon enough if thats how long RS has been given. Lose saturday and games against the Big four in November, then it's up shit creek, we're all doomed, last one out of The Withdean please turn off the lights, two hopes 1, Cape of Good hope 2. no f ing Hope. This will not happen because were going to WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN WIN

I find it hard to believe 60 people would voluntarily agree to live in Grimsby!

Most of the Crap Town players commute into work so the manager wouldn't have to live here and be any different.

Having said that, the Argus doesn't seem to think RS is going anywhere for now...

Comment: Bloom has passed first test

By Andy Naylor »

Tony Bloom has passed his first examination as Albion chairman.

The latest home defeat by Oldham last Saturday aroused speculation over the future of manager Russell Slade.

It would have been easy to bow to the vocal minority of supporters, suffering from premature dissatisfaction over Slade’s tenure. Instead, Bloom has used his rational, poker-playing head.

You can bet your last chip that Albion’s poor start to the season, and the reasons for it, were discussed in some depth by the manager and chairman at a routine meeting on Monday, arranged prior to the Oldham setback.

Neither of them can be happy with the current state of affairs and it is not just in politics that a week is a long time.

A second successive home defeat and bleak performance will not help Slade’s cause but the indications are he will at least be allowed the rest of the year to turn things around, which is only right and proper.

His detractors have short memories. Thanks to him Albion are hosting Hartlepool on Saturday, not Accrington Stanley.

The pace of change at the club has been frantic, not just in terms of turnover of players but the entire footballing structure of the club.

That process is ongoing. Strengthening the coaching resources remains a priority for Slade after he lost out in this respect to a League One rival in the summer.

Had he lost his job now, Albion would be looking for their fifth manager in just over three years, which is ridiculous.

The only sound reason for Slade’s post being in jeopardy would be an inescapable conclusion that Albion are destined for another relegation fight during the second half of the season.

It is still far too early to believe that.

So how does Naylor know we would be playing Accrington Stanley this saturday???

im not even going to rise to ur immature comment but we will see and im sure if u check the times i log on here davies would be training or playing foolish people

I was not having a go at you. You have come on this site and made a bold statement, and have not backed it up. The Argus and the main club website have made it clear that Russell Slade is staying as manager of our club:ascarf.
So if he is going do not have a hissy fit when asked how you know this just back it up.
