An old friend who is close to backroom staff at Ipswich have told me tonight that Slade is a target for Portman Road vacancy.

They have been tracking Slade since he left Yeovil, and last night's result at Bristol was major factor in Magilton getting the bullet at 10pm.
The fact that Slade's contract with Brighton expires in early May is another a major factor...

They waited to see if we won before sacking Magilton?!

Absolute rubbish!

I was thinking the same today. Irrespective whether we stay up or not, he's done his CV no harm at all.

I hope his short term contract doesn't come back and bite us on the arse.

Sky Sports are reporting that Roy Keane will be named Manager at Ipswich in the very near future, so hopefully that blows that one out of the water.

2 Ipswich directors and one major shareholder were at the Bristol game...

I hope so. Guess it's only prudent for ITFC to have a contingency.

They'd have to be scraping the barrell a bit (no disrespect to Slade as I think he's quality!). They're looking for promotion to the prem and Slade hasn't done anything above league 1. They've already gone for an untried manager at that level, I would be amazed if they didn't get a fairly big name up there. Ince/Keane/Pardew maybe.

Someone's had you...

Absolute rubbish though, because:

1. SSN confirms Roy Keane expected to be confirmed as boss in the next 24 hrs.
2. Nobody from Ipswich at the game last night (unless they paid at the gate, very unlikely). Jason Dodd was there scouting for Middlesbrough though.
3. Magilton sacked at 10am, not 10pm.

Aye. I made it up whilst watching "You're Fired", and a combination of seriel text / SSN watchers and 'Insider' made it all unravel within a space of 20 minutes...

Ipswich used to be such a nice club, playing nice football, that were too nice to sack managers and were nice enough to supply two managers for the England job. Now they have had David "Handcuffs" Norris playing for them and want Roy Keane as boss. What's going on?
