And you didn't think Micky Adams was at the start of last season? Because you barely gave him a chance before you Adams Out polls

EVERYBODY Listen:

Its the first game foe a new team. Yes Slade prob got it wrong (or it just wasn't executed properly). But he recognised it and changed things. All you morons saying all that crap that he should go are off your heads and know nothing about football in the real world.
Jog on and support Man Utd or something u fickle prawn sandwich munchers.
Idiots.

Wise words Sir.

I'm not actually too down at all after yesterday. First half wasn't great, but a big improvement after the break. I liked the look of Wright on the wing, Dickenson up front, and thought Navaro had a pretty solid game.

It's always going to be hard with 6, yes count them 6, newbies in a team for their first competitive match, and I genuinely thought they showed promise in the second half.

I thought we were unlucky overall yesterday and didn't really deserve to come away with null points. It's not often you lose 0-1 when the oppoisition don't create a shot on target.

My only complaint is personally, IMHO like, I never agree with starting 4-5-1 at home under any circumstances whatsoever. It's too negative and invites the other side to come on to you.

Isn't that how we played at home under Peter Taylor although we had a quality and very confident striker, full of goals and we were playing to the strengths of the team. We did quite well at it too. I hope we don't end up playing like that this season though as it was very nerve shredding, even though we did go up as Champions :clap2:

On the phone-in RS said that they had worked on making sure the crosses beat the first man and he was livid that they didn't execute it.

He was forced to play one man up front because the rest were not fit - and he changed it at half time because he knew we needed to. You can't ask for more than that from the manager.

This man has a decent squad and they will get better and better.

Was the main reason we played 451 more around the fact that murray & Forster were not very likely to play the whole game due to them having been injured??

Game should have finished 0 - 0. 4-5-1 didn't work. Rather than laying into Slade, perhaps we should have a look at Craig Davies who cleverly got himself sent off in a meaningless pre-season friendly and forced us into playing 4-5-1 due to lack of players.

Nice one Craig.

He is only suspended from friendlies, as far as I'm aware he could have played yesterday

good second half performance, slade saw the problem and changed the tactics bringing on fozza to go 4 4 2...we were despereately unlucky not to grab an equaliser. My main concern was our set pieces which were less than dangerous...but its still early doors

I still think we will win more than we lose this season. There were flashes of good play, particularly in the 2nd half. Slade needs to work out who is the best centre midfield pairing and play 442 at home.

I was abit disapointed Dicker didn't start. I would like to see Forster start up front with Dickinson next home game. I thought both Wrights got better as the game went on. Navarro did ok until he started to try and get cocky.

I still think the future looks much brighter this season:ascarf:

Once the midfield get their act together and supply the forward line with quality balls we'll soon be singing "Feed the dick , feed the dick , feed the dick and he will score , feed the dick and he will score"

I said it at the end of the season and I stand by it.

Slade was a MIRACLE worker last season. He did a great job getting the players motivated and working for the cause.

But I would NOT have given him the job.

Not that I am calling for his head after one game mind...

I seem to remember reading that even if he hadn't been suspended for the friendly last weekend he wouldn't have played because he had taken a knock somewhere.
