I haven't read the rest of this thread but, for one of the rare occasions I want to express how angry I am by the behaviour of some people here.

At lunchtime today I was on here feeling pessimistic because of the amount of talk about how the Blooms didn't like Slade, how there was going to be another 'Wilkins affair'

Whereas, the reality is that the board couldn't have moved any faster than they did to secure Slade's future.

How low have we got since those days when we all pulled together as a club for survival. How low have we become that we believe every single negative story that flies around.

How sad

and how lucky we are that Slade didn't come on here and look and maybe suspect that this club didn't want him.

I would like to believe that some people will feel ashamed.

But suppose that would be asking too much.

Oh well.

Oh .. and by the way... great decision.... Slade is the right man to take us to Falmer.

Have to say I've never known such widespread distrust of the current board as there has been over giving Slade what is rightfully his, a new contract. OK, they reached the correct decision in the end, but how much of that was down to the fans leaning on them to do the right thing? How close were we to getting Gannon or Wise over the Summer? Guess we'll never know for sure. But probably safe to chalk it up as 1-0 to Fan Power.

Let's just hope that Slade is trusted with the Bloom money that was rumoured to be lined up for Wise.

I think we need to 'manage our expectations' as the buzz-phrase seems to be.

I'm really pleased he's been given the job on a full time basis but I think he's going to keep the current staff, and I'd be more than happy with mid-table mediocrity and a far less stressful time next year.

I honestly don't think we're ready for the big push next year. What we need now is stability over the next couple of seasons and the ideal scenario would be to start the season in the new stadium in the Championship.

Its not about moaning its about the club moving forward.

Its not rocket science these numpty's are non league:whisky:

You're the numpty. White was in charge for only three games but got four points in that time and somehow managed to bring in five loan players who all did okay for us and in the case of Owusu and Borrowdale played a major part in our survival. If Russell decides to change his backroom staff there could well be a place for White even if it isn't as assistant manager.

But if he fails next season, we'll have to berate ourselves for making the decision, our own heads will have to roll! Or we could just blame the board for not sacking Dean White and Bob Booker.

Even if you don't like Slade, he has earned the chance to have a go next season. Not sure he is the man for the future and Falmer though. I'd love to see a bigger name take us into the new season, but then look how Adams turned out...

Automatic is wishful thinking for next year with Norwich, Charlton and Southampton coming down... there may well be Leeds in there as well so it will probably be very tight at the top and we're likely to do well to reach the playoffs.

It'll be interesting to see what he does with the squad. I'd love to see Owusu in for good as he is the big unit that we have been crying out for.
