Afernoon Superphil,

Can I ask one question. Whilst in the shithole that is commonly lnown as Dover, the pubs had the Sky Premiership games on, but whith slightly different graphics for the time, scores etc. However, the programme was "For use in Northern Greece only" which rolled across the screen at irregular intervals, and there were Greek adverts.

Last year, all the pubs in Dover had exactly the same set up, but rather than Greek, it was Saudi television.

There are a number of other "Sky" packages available accross Europe, and elswhere "Sky Sports World" and "Sky World" "Mix Movies World" ( I think). Again, these are supposed to only be used in the country of purchase/license, see here;

http://www.digitalsales.co.uk/acatalog/EurocardPackages.html or here http://www.insatinternational.com/viewing_details.php?CountryID=17

They do use the same feeds, and sometimes the same commentary as our Sky.

Why all the pubs in dover should be blighted I have no idea, perhaps there was a computer error at Skys HQ, or perhaps there was some dodgy "sales" rep knocking out Saudi and Greek cards/boxes in Dover.

No, they're just UK cards being resold illegally; and what Dover saw was SuperSport being resold illegally.

(there is another Sky in Italy which has graphics like our Sky 5 years ago, mind; Sky Italia)

Ah, right, I thought it was a direct Sky product, but it's Sky selling their content to another broadcaster. These subscription are often sold as "Sky" subscriptions, even though they are through a third party. Either way, if it ain't got a beer glass in the corner, it shouldn't be on your Pub telly in the UK.

Trust me, I come from dover originaly, and it is a shithole, where pubs are closing early or not opening untill the weekend. Or simply just closing altogether.

They have gone for the cheaper option for survival. A pub without football has no punters, but they cannot afford Sky's rates.

Bullshit alert! Bullshit alert!

There is no way to get Sky for free, simple as. Cable, yes; Sky no.
i'm sorry myob but you are in fact wrong and i am right. i have a chipped sky box that runs off a cable ariel through an adaptor and as a result i can get all the sky sports channels for free as well as a few others like mtv etc. i do not pay a penny to sky although we already have a cheap cable service with virgin media. so there.

Is that a Dreambox/Linux set up then? And as you said the input is via cable, so are all the Sky channels on there, like Sky 1, the Discovey Channels, SSN etc and are the options on there, like Sky+. Or do you just get the Sky packages that come through Cable?

Well, Andy Gray is in fact a TWI commentator....

Is that a new spelling of TWAT. I was told that he controls ALL football on SKY and you do not get on unless you drop him, hence Jamie Redknapp being on Sky.

Whether that is true I do not know only what I was told by an ex chief scout of one of the top 4 clubs.

don't get all the sky channels but all the sports ones plus the odd discovery and mtv. not sure what the setup is but the cable wire goes into the back of the box through an adaptor and then a wire from box into back of telly. switch it to channel 18 and i'm away. not sure either if it's traceable in any way but not too bothered about that. nothing to do with me - i just reap the benefits. the only fingerprints of mine are on the remote.

I was in a pub in Dartford recently who had Sky on with English commentators and arab adverts. A scotsman phoned to ask if they were showing the game that night and the boss said 'no we havent got sky' and we was all watching it.

"cable aerial" you really don't know what you're talking about do you?

You cannot get Sky for free. Cable is a different story. Sky is a satellite delivered service. What you have IS USING CABLE. Cable in the UK, and Ireland, and most of the world is hacked to peices - Sky is not.

Only tosser here is you.

'fraid not myob.

sky is a broadcasting company. their product is delivered through the internet, through satellite and through cable.

in this case, benny seagull is right. he receives sky products (sky sports, sky one, etc.), though he does not receive it via a satellite.

and he clearly pays nothing.

it is you, sir, who is therefore the tosser.

No, he said he received Sky. Not cable. Sky refers to Sky's broadcasting platform, which is satellite delivered. He claimed to have a chipped Sky box, not a cable box. He then continued to argue his position when it was quite clear he had a chipped cable box.

Sky One isn't on cable except in south Scotland and Ireland.

by saying he had a chipped sky box, he was merely saying he had a chipped box that carried sky products. which is true.

No, he said he had a chipped Sky box, which means a Sky Digibox.

Why did you bounce a 5 week old thread to argue anyway?

because you immediately jumped on him when he made a slight oversight in technical description.

and if i don't defend him, no-one will.

He didn't make a slight oversight, he argued, repeatedly insisted it was a Sky box, called me a tosser and called me wrong when he was the one that was incorrect.

And it took you five weeks to come up with a "defence" for that?
