I mean who wants a bunch of socialists on the front bench of a Labour Government 🤦‍♂️
In the same way as ‘who wants a bunch of ERG’ on the front bench of a Tory government?

Sir Keir is a socialist but a realist, not an idealist like Corbyn. Massive difference. Sir Keir wants what is best for the country but the SCG wants what most fits in with their socialist ideology.

Give me Starmer's beliefs over Corbyn's any time.

Corbyn's 'idealism' is very selective e.g. Putin, Hamas, unchecked antisemitism in the LP under his leadership, Iran, Chavez (torture, murders, human rights abuses).

Evening standard editorial commenting on Starmers good judgement. Meanwhile the same editorial describes the tory Rwanda position as mad unachievable bolleaux. I paraphrase. I see those flouncing includes spare head 3, and various others strongly associated with the Palestinian cause. Nothing wrong with the cause but getting into bed with Hamas is one-eyed. Get this clear folks- hamas won't agree to a ceasefire. End of discussion.

Have the gammon decided yet whether Starmers stance is a stick with which to beat Labour? Even though they may agree with it? They must be distraught with confusion 🤣

Source the Guardian but originally the Telegraph?

“Sir Keir Starmer has praised Margaret Thatcher for effecting “meaningful change” in Britain in an article directly appealing to Conservative voters to switch to Labour.”

Bold move considering the contempt in which she is held by the Labour rank and file although politically I imagine the most vehement Thatcher haters are the least likely to vote anything other than Labour

"Every moment of meaningful change in modern British politics begins with the realisation that politics must act in service of the British people, rather than dictating to them," Sir Keir wrote.

"Margaret Thatcher sought to drag Britain out of its stupor by setting loose our natural entrepreneurialism."

He also accuses the government of... failing to "realise the possibilities of Brexit".
Sir Keir, a former Remain supporter, unsuccessfully campaigned for a second referendum while shadow Brexit secretary in Mr Corbyn's shadow cabinet between 2016 and 2020.

As Labour leader, he has insisted there is no case for re-joining the EU.

A bold move to the centre ground?

Starmer is not a socialist. He is a social democrat.
