I think you will find just as many Labour voters voted for.............. Brexit

When you have just two options really, then the voter has no real choice do they, so inevitably if you vote Tory or Labour, they both after time let you down and get greedy. FACT
i usually vote lib dem. FACT

Anyone tempted to stay up for the multiple by-elections coverage?

I’ve done GE’s back to May 79 when at school.

Feels far more intriguing than your bog standard one seat.
Love watching election coverage, multi-screen set up, homemade charts with highlighter pens - the lot! It’s a blast.

Some friends of mine - much further left than I’ll ever be - told me they’re voting independent (in a no chance of winning constituency) because Starmer isn’t “true Labour”. If a sizeable whack of these people do as they say, it opens the door for the Tories.
Starmer isn't going to win an election if he only appeals to the former Corbynistas. He needs to be trusted by those in the middle of the political spectrum. You can only effect change if you're in power.

We will get all of that, but we're still 18 months out from an election. You win nothing with poll leads a year before an election. When all this does drop no-one will be saying 'ah, but they didn't tell us this in summer '23'. Patience is the virtue here.
It’s rare for the leader of the opposition to win a majority in a general election- in the 44 years since Thatcher did it, only Blair has managed it and he brought out his manifesto and campaigned on it 10 or 11 months before the GE 😳

Blair declared his intentions, offered his solutions and campaigned as if he knew exactly what he was doing pushing his policies at every given opportunity.

Far cry from Sir Keir, who it seems is still campaigning on being ‘not the tories’

A lot of double speak and some back tracking from him so far but to be fair nothing particularly out of the ordinary in that, politicians from both parties do the same.

It seems to me that whenever Sir Keir or any of the shadow cabinet have to walk back what they have suggested may happen when they are in Government, it is because the fiscally responsible Rachel Reeves has said there isn’t the money for that. She is strong and electable.

If … and it’s still if we get a Labour government, my money will be on Ed Milliband to be the first minister to leave the cabinet because the Chancellor will not fully fund his Green policies. That’s if he makes it that far without resigning from the shadow cabinet!!!

Very little appeals to me about Labour under Keir.

Neither major party has any aspirational image of hope or how to make this country better for people. Just bleak austerity and a war against migrants for the next decade or eternity. Grim.

Won't be voting for either and perhaps for the first time in my life will spoil my ballot.

So, 10 months out is next March? I think we'll be looking at it quite differently this time next year. Don't shoot your bolt too early

I will enjoy the demise of many wretched Tory MPs on election night but I will not be enthused at the prospect of a Labour government that thinks tough choices are only for workers, the poor and not profiteers and unearned income. It's head in the sand economics and it will disappoint so many voters who cannot wait to be rid of the Tories.

Brighton factually.....
Not if the Libs hold the key to power for Starmer, and demand full PR as the price.
And then trot along like a little puppy dog by his side, begging for scraps from the table.
Pitiful really if Starmer after all the tories have done, need the Lib Dems to get in power.

He should be feckin coasting it

I'm not really sure what the Lib Dems stand for at the moment, but this is a good opportunity for them to actually position themselves to the left of Labour in the way Charles Kennedy did and Clegg momentarily pretended too.

think they should try being liberal, rather than keep trying to step around where ever Labour decides to be.
