On talksport today they were suggesting that if England get the 2018 world cup Beckham should be knighted.

Got me thinking that he played a key role flying about to get the olympics now the world cup, loads of caps for his country, last player to show serious pride in wearing the shirt, great ambassador for the english game.

So does he deserve it? I for one would welcome it after all we have Lord Coe so Sir David Beckham seems a worthy nomination!!

What does NSC think?

I would not be against him being Knighted. He spreads a great deal of goodness about.

There are plenty of Knighthoods I do not agree with, but he has certainly gone beyond his call of duty.

If Terry '£1,000 an hour Children in Need' Wogan gets a Knighthood, then Beckham deserves at least that.

Yup, he has done an awful lot and not just for football. Would be deserved in my opinion.

Sir?
No, not while he's still young and could still go on to do so more. Better to recognise his achievements later in life.

But he's been an absolutely brilliant representative for the nation over the past few weeks, doing his bit for the bid.

Yeah certainly deserves it, has always gone the extra mile for his country.... One of the few top footballers that actually appears to care about the game and wants to put something back.

His work in helping get 2012 Olympics and his work on the 2018 bid should be rewarded as he seems to be single handedly winning it for us

Am really pleased that people feel he would deserve such an honour. I think he really has been a great ambassador and agree fully with the sentiments so far shared. I thought his contribution today was very well done. A genuine guy and I for one can only see him continuing to be a credit

Yes. Great role model, does loads of work for UK sport and charity, and I admire the hard work and enthusiasm he put in to try and get in the England world cup squad, even though at 35 it would have been much easier for him to stay in LA counting his cash.

It would be a disaster and no mistake. After 30-odd years he's probably just got to grips with the spelling of his own name. If you then go and add three more letters to the front it might send his brain into meltdown.

I would be happy. Always giving 100% for your country (in my opinion) is not enough to get a knighthood. It is the extra things that count. His role in getting the Olympics, his role in the world cup bid and his charity work are what make him worthy. If we get the bid, I would give him a knighthood upon retirement. If we don't get the world cup, I would give him a few more years to earn it.

Definately 100%. He doesn't need to do any of the stuff he does! He does ALOT for others.
