If you can't avoid heathrow, it's not too big a deal. The tube (picadilly line) runs from heathrow, change to the victoria line at green park, to get to victoria. (or get out at green park and walk to victoria, it's about 10-15 minute walk). Or go to gloucester road and change to the district line to victoria. 45-55 minute journey time.

Oh no, no, no, no, no Acker -

Heathrow express to Paddington - then Bakerloo to oxford circus - victoria. 45 minutes quicker I would say.

Pay quite a bit more -but what price when you've spent 500 quid on a flight,.

Start a crowd funding plea like our (now disappeared?) New York singing fan? We will expect some karaoke style Albion related songs posted on NSC as payment though

Conversely, having sepent the quivalent of £500 or so for the flight ticket, why spend any more money than you need to? National Express run a reliable coach service at approx 2 hourly intervals direct from the Heathrow Termini direct to Brighton.for considerably less than the price of the train. That way as well, the OP can keep his luggage with him, and not have to worry about changing in London enroute.

Everyone also seems to be assuming that he is flying from New York. Do we definately know that to be the case? There are also non stop services from many other points in the USA, (Norwegian especially have a very good network).

Tickets are on sale for the Palace game, that's the one to come to if you get a chance.

I guess also it depends on the time of day the flight arrives. I give you the magnificent M25 lottery.

Id recommend staying at the Ibis by Brighton station. Cheap clean hotel. Nothing fancy but more than suitable in the heart of Brighton with plenty around.

Obviously depending where you are flying in from Gatwick would be the better choice. You could of course base yourself in London but I would still suggest Gatwick to be the easier airport to fly into.

Hi friends,

As some of you know I've been lurking here for a while now, ever since Alireza joined I got into Brighton football and this became my team.
I follow fervently and am so excited to be a BHA supporter.
Even wear BHA items on in-week game days (I live in the US) and some of my coworkers think I'm crazy.
I was considering coming over to catch a game at the Amex, and wondering what you think of this idea. Is it hard to get from London (I'm assuming it'd be Heathrow) to Brighton? I'd like to come to a home game where we have a better chance at winning, so maybe Newcastle at the end or something, not against the big 6 even though they have the "flashier" names, I'd like to be in a raucous joyous stadium.

All this being said, is this crazy and is it going to be harder than it sounds to fly in say 1-2 days before and come down to Brighton, spend a few nights in a hotel to catch the game? I just don't know what to expect and the internet including tripadvisor is strangely not as helpful as I thought.

There are several good ideas, contact the club (Paul Barber) they love a good story that can fill some programme pages. Fly into Gatwick as its much easier, there are plenty of supporters with local links who could help out. I know some supporters have properties for air b&b in Brighton so may be able to guide you to a decent and reasonable location. Plus there will be several supporters from NSC that would happily meet you and help to make your trip a little more entertaining

My advice - Fly into Gatwick take a fast train to Btn then check in at the Grand. If you are flying all the way from USA, why slum it at the Ibis or travel lodge or some other budget dive when for about £70 more you can have a much more enjoyable pleasant experience. If u book in advance you can get a room at the grand for around £140. Decent breakfast too and good staff.

If you absolutely have to fly into Heathrow, don't piss about with the tube and trains across London as some have suggested. The coaches stop right outside the airport and you'll be in Brighton city centre, where I assume your hotel will be, within a couple of hours.

If I'm in the UK then I'll be happy to take you for a pint somewhere!

Thanks all again for your excellent advice and offers.

I am new to EPL so my apologies for this silly question. Now that BHA are out of Carabao Cup and FA Cup, are there any other cups that might change the PL schedule for Brighton? Can I assume that games against opponents that are similarly knocked out of both will be held on the days they are currently scheduled for?

Thanks.

No more cups this season. No, you can’t assume that - the TV companies (BT and Sky) can (and probably will) change the day and/or kick-off time for some of the remaining PL games. They have already moved the games they want to up until the end of February. The changes to the games in March are due to be announced on 24 Jan; those in April on 21 Feb; and those in May on 3 April - however, typically they are typically a few days to a week late in actually announcing them.

Try the air b&b link above, the accomodation is owned by a BHAFC supporter and is in an excellent location

The Newcastle game would be a really good choice if you are spending time in Brighton as well as seeing a match. The Brighton Festival will be in full swing, and there is so much going on throughout the town - loads of fringe events, street performers etc. - and the Spiegeltent will be open - a great place for beers in the sun shine.

Do it - you won't regret it.

Get a place in central Brighton - Kemp Town or Hanover would be good. Loads of Airbnbs available.
