I'm not sure what is going on with the naming of the stands but I feel quite strongly that DK should have one of them named after him.

I'm noticing more and more a tendency for fans on here to go down the Dick Tight potless pillock route when comparing him to TB.

I really hope his part in our survival does not become diluted in fans minds, especially the ones who were not old enough to know what was going on, or perhaps not even born when he took over.

He was not perfect and he may have held on too long, who knows, but imo we would quite likely not have a club in it's current state if he had not taken on what was undoubtably a poisoned chalice back in the 90's

Whaddya reckon??

Of course. It's a no-brainer. Dick Knight delivered us from the axis of Archer/Bellotti evil and then delivered us the planning permission for Falmer after long long years that would have broken a lesser man. Anybody with money could have then delivered us the stadium. No disrespect whatsoever intended to Tony Bloom, who has done magnificently and is a genuine Albion Hero, but it was Dick Knight who did the hard thankless graft that made it possible. As the poll results rightly acknowledge.

Pork pie land.
No. It has a commercial value in naming rights, and the Club should continue getting every penny that it can from the stadium. Would he have given up the chance to make a few bob?

He should never be forgotton for stepping forward in difficult times and keeping the Club out of the abyss.

Oddly enough, I re-read that section of 'Build a Bonfire' just earlier today and it goes without say !

NO............I am sure the quite modest DK really would not want the lime light and as a true fan would prefer to get more revenue for our club to build us into the biggest and best club we can.

As mentioned before; Dick, and other quieter Board members and/or shareholders lent the club interest-free EACH between several hundred thousand and low £m's,
with a remote chance of ever getting it back, with no freehold or assets to secure it on, and being a large chunk of their personal wealths.
Their monies kept the club alive, paid for several £m on planning/architects/appeals and some palyers. This is all recorded in the Accounts.

They had no mega money, and until Falmer was really going to happen, no one wanted to takeover.

Dick and the others, and now TB in a different era, have ALL been fantastic for the club.

Disagree. The club may be a cash cow going forward. But it should honour those whose commitment made it possible. In fact there should be a Dick Knight Stand, a Tony Bloom Stand and an Albion Fans stand. Oh, and an Away Fans Stand.

Prefer a statue or painting as a memorial to "the war years" with DK and perhaps some of the BISA lads as well... step up Harty, Attila, Paul S and many others

What about a Fatboy slim stand a Charlie Webb a Peter Ward and so on. I really feel if you are a true Albion Fan and have helped the club through the mire you will just be happy for a seat and a beer and watching our club week in and out.
Infact as DK has so quitely taken the back seat i am sure he would be happy to continue that position.

Certainly agree about Charlie Webb. Club doesnt do enough with the Charity Shield win in its history

That's EXACTLY what I'm happy for.

But at the same time there's three non-away-end stands up for naming. And nobody other than 1. Albion Fans 2. Dick Knight 3. Tony Bloom that comes within several hundred country miles worthy of naming them after. IMHO, like.

That's another debate but my whole point is that surely a man such as Dick really wouldn't want all the fuss, he knows the fans appreciate him and surely he would as a business man want the sponsorship cash ploughed back in.

If you have a Dick Knght stand why not a stand named after the people who kept us afloat with their money and donations during his time as chairman. Will we have Fat Boy Slim Stand a Bill Brown Stand just to name 2 and I am sure that there were others probably more than we have stands to name after them.
