Should we have a Dick Knight Stand in the Amex?

I'm noticing more and more a tendency for fans on here to go down the Dick Tight potless pillock route when comparing him to TB.

I really hope his part in our survival does not become diluted in fans minds, especially the ones who were not old enough to know what was going on, or perhaps not even born when he took over.

Let's be frank about this - it's only a few CLOWNS who make this "potless" remark flippantly. Ernest might have been tongue in cheek starting that term, but only idiots propagate it beyond that.

Anyone calling him potless, or pillock, or any other derogatory term - is ignorant of what he has done for the club when NEEDED.

I've voted no for the following reasons:

Dick's bar is in many ways more appropriate and will cause much mirf for visiting supporters with their homophobic spectacles on.

Stands should be named after playing icons.

I don't think Dick would want it. Suspect he is happy with the bar.

If Dick gets a stand named after him then where do you go for Tony Bloom? Rename Brighton and Hove?

Why is Dick more special than Martin Perry, Paul Samrah etc etc?

In actual fact there is a great case for getting him on the pitch and giving him a respectful cheer and applause on the day.

I sincerely doubt he is. In the nicest possible way I have to say that I've always thought that DK has rather a large ego and naming a stand after him would chuff him to bits. Let's chuff him!!

How about we call the away stand "The Dick End" it would give us a huge amount of scope to reply to all the homophobic crap we get from the away fans for starters. The guy definitely deserves more than a bar named after him he's an absolute hero

There should be some recognition for DK at the new stadium, a genuine legend and without his tireless work Tony would not have had a new stadium to blow £100million on. Let's also not forget under Dick's tenure we very successful ON the pitch to, with trophies quite often momentarily distracting us from the off the pitch battles.

If the supporters bar is to be names Dicks Bar then I think he wouldn't actually mind that at all, especially as on the few occasions I've been in hospitality Dick was always one of the last to leave and always happy to talk to supporters.

Not sure if Ken Bates is recognised in any way at Stamford Bridge for what he did for the club, but I know Harding is in some way.

This seems like a good option if, in reality, the club can't do without the sponsorship from the naming rights for one of the stands

Yeah that's pretty much the impression I got. I don't think he is one to shy away from the limelight and feel embarrassed about having a stand named after him. In the nicest possible way, of course.

This with bells on. Dick Knight is a legend for what he did, but there are lots and lots of other people who also played large parts in getting us to where we are. Leave it as is

Generally, I don't think chairmen should have stands named after them. Football is about players, and I just feel long-serving playing legends is more appropriate. Maybe I'd name one of the better dining/conference suites inside the West Stand after him instead. But I do accept that this could be an exceptional case, and Knight did more as chairman for this club than many elsewhere, even if the job wasn't quite finished until Bloom came along.

Unlike others I think calling the supporters' bar "Dick's Bar" is a bit shit; you can just imagine the guffaws from away fans - we may as well call it "Poof's Bar".

PS - And I would LOVE the West Stand to be sponsored by BetFred!

I am a great admirer of Dick Knight to the extent that I could almost be described as an apologist but in this respect I am saying "no".

Two reasons...............

1. There is no Bloom Stand so how could there be a Knight Stand.

2. The reason there is no Bloom Stand and no Knight Stand is that hopefully (and subject to the economy recovering) the stands will eventually be named after sponsors which will put more money into the transfer pot.

I'm sure that Dick Knight will be suitably recognised and the idea of naming the fans' bar after him seems appropriate in fairness. I'm sure there will be a Bloom Suite somewhere too.
