Can you stop trolling my thread with off topic comments - it is very annoying. If you have no interest in discussing the topic why are you even posting on here?

Then go and have a conversation about your engineering business on another thread please.

You are deliberately trolling this one. It’s not the first time you have used this tactic to derail threads either.

He’s really not trolling, mate. It’s just the way the conversation has gone.

I’d respectfully suggest you either steer it back on course or if it’s bothering you, ignore it.

I’m still engaged with the thread and enjoying it so I’d rather it remained open if possible.

Just for the record. When I suggested layabouts could be put to work on infrastructure works such as flood defences, I meant more on the side of sand-bagging flood-vulnerable streets and properties ahead of storm warnings.
Putting the pebbles back on the beach after heavy storms.

As opposed to designing and constructing legacy flood defences for towns and cities 😂😂

Ah, now here’s a troll.

That’ll be enough for me. Crawley Dildo is the death nells for any thread.

Peace ✌️

Earlier you said you had no intention of revisiting this thread, yet here you are. You may have started the thread but (on NSC) that doesn’t, never has and never will, give you the right to police it, should it organically veer off onto a different path. It’s pretty much how 80% of threads on here go - much as face to face conversations do.

Having served 30 years in the RAF the last thing the 'professional' military want or need is undisciplined press-ganged people who dont want to be in the military.....Hey John we know you dont want to be here but here is a gun.....

I voted absolutely not no way never.

Yeah that makes more sense.
Still not sure I'd trust the sort of person we're talking about to put up a sandbag barrier my house depended on up though.

This is the thing, National Service involved pretty much everybody, not just layabouts with nothing better to be doing. That's basically just a government labour scheme (not a bad thing in itself but it's not the same thing).

I mean, you're perfectly entitled to ask for your own thread to be closed, but some of us are still enjoying the conversation.
Yeah. Hang him! Or maybe a stoning? I have a load of rocks left over from building a dry garden.

I merely came in to try and ask if we could get the thread back on the topic of the poll not to contribute to the discussion and here you are back making it about me again and trying to bully me off the thread again.

Tbh -‘ policing’ threads is usually the mods job but you are more interested in making digs at me. So I’ll fcuk off again.

Thanks for the moderation input 👍
I fear he's channeling Kenneth Williams (carry on Cleo? Could have been carry on Caesar)..

Except he's got it inferyou :lolol:

Flounce usually means someone has chosen to flounce - if you read earlier posts you’d realise that it is the mods trying to shut me down not the other way round.

😳
Not you, you twit.

Wrong. (Part of) the moderators role is to allow the conversation to evolve and go where those participating in the thread wish to take it.

You had no intention of trying to steer the thread back to whatever the opening question was; you came on here requesting the thread be closed because the latest contributions weren’t to your remit.

Threads are very rarely closed on here. They reach a natural end and then quietly sink down the pages. Your request to close an active thread simply because you don’t approve appears to me to be arrogant and classically attention seeking.

Be sure to let me know if you want any more moderation input.

I’m only pulling your leg. I enjoy your posts and we get on. And I was enjoying this thread.

Anyway, it’s a good thread and an interesting discussion. Thanks for posting it originally.

👍

On this occasion I think you are being oversensitive. @Sid and the Sharknados is one of the good guys.

Edit as is @The Clamp

Probably. Apologies to all.

But it is clear the Mods think I post too much (have somehow imposed my ideas on this thread too) so I’m not flouncing - I’m reading the room and fcuking off the thread when I have been clearly invited to..

I don’t have it in for anybody, I can assure you. But if the bar is now being set so low that any thread that deviates from the OP is now considered “trolling” then Bozza may as well kick the whole thing into touch now.

Alternatively, we can continue in the same spirit and with the same ethos that has kept this place vibrant, dynamic, irreverent, funny, sad, poignant, informative and most of all just damn good fun for over a quarter of a century.

NSC is privately owned and run site, not some council-funded community hub.

One of the mods has got sand in his vagina about you for unknown reasons. Just ignore it. He is also, weirdly, one of the good guys too. Shit happens

And I see from above that @Bry Nylon has signaled there is no vendatta. Just a bit of piss taking.

I am the Henry Kissinger of NSC :lolol:

Nice turn of phrase. Thanks.
:lolol: I have updated my post. You may raise one eyebrow, look into the middle distance, and adopt the visage of Holmes (Jeremy Brett) smiling very slightly at a case, almost now forgotten
